I went to bed last night around 12. I woke up on my own around 5:40. It's already getting light, but I stayed in bed for a while, laboring in the stupor of semi-sleep. Around 6:00 I dragged out and got my stuff on. I skipped yesterday, so I was overdue for some miles. As I was leaving, I heard footsteps behind me, and my little running partner was wrapped up in her kitty blanket. We chatted on the porch for a while, enjoying the quiet morning and watching the birds. I promised to make her breakfast when I got back, and left for Freedom Hills. It was warm this morning. I felt sick to my stomach and my left knee hurt in the first 1/2 mile. I got a drink at the cemetery and just kept going, albeit slowly. The climb is rough on a good day. Once I hit the firebreak road I mostly felt better. The canyon dips were refreshingly cool, and it was early enough there was no sunlight. After coming down the switchbacks, I got a good drink at the park, and headed home on the road. By the end I was feeling good, and Chevelle's Evening with El Diabolo came on the iPod. That song makes me run fast, so I finished up with a 7:00 mile. I came inside after watering the lawn and cleaning up a bird that flew into the window. I found my other running partner sleepily wandering about. She wanted to play Zelda, so the three of us did that for a while instead of having breakfast. I didn't make it to work until 9:30, it was such a nice morning. |
