Another evening run with Jack.  It was windy.  Sometimes the wind would catch the stroller and noticeably slow it down.  Jack stayed awake the whole run, which is unusual.  I guess he was intrigued by the wind.  It was all the way dark by the time we got home.  I hate cars.  Having to stick to the road is a huge drawback to taking him along.

Do you really run in Crocs? If so, are they the standard-style sandal type?

I got a pair of baby blues a while back for $5. My longest run is 7-8 miles. I don't know if there are many benefits besides economic, but I seem to have quicker turnover when I wear them. The more bulky running shoes let me get away with plodding along/heel striking. http://www.crocs.com/crocs-classic/10001,default,pd.html?cid=001&cgid=men-footwear-clogs

Interesting. Your feet don't slip/slide? How about blisters? I would have never thought about running in Crocs. Do you wear socks?

I certainly can appreciate the economic factor. I went with some shoes that were not my "normal" brand, because they were less expensive (and then on sale). It's definitely caused me some issues. I'd like to find a less expensive alternative and still keep my legs in good working order.

I wear socks. It looks VERY classy. My first 2 runs I had no issues, but on the 3rd, my feet got wet and I rubbed blisters where the heel strap pivots. Since then, I've had no blister problems. My feet slop around a little bit; it's definitely not the same as being tied into a trainer. But it feels fine. I really like running in them. They are very light. I wouldn't say they are exceptionally comfortable, but they are adequately comfortable.

Laputka and Sasha Pachev both train & race mostly, if not exclusively in crocs. I think they are a good, neutral shoe. I feel my calfs a bit more after running in them, but I think it's good to vary shoes, surfaces and terrain so your muscles ALL get stimulated and strengthened. Right now I wear the crocs once or twice a week; otherwise I wear Sauconys. You should try out a pair. They may work out nicely for you, and if not, you are only out a few bucks and have something to wear post-run. I am very satisfied with my $5 experiment, although I was lucky to find some that fit in the clearance bin.

i don't like cars either, especially garbage trucks and street sweepers.

allie, do you ever run at night? There are no commercial vehicles that time of day.

i always run in the early morning -- when commercial vehicles are abundant and driving around quickly and recklessly.

i run in crocs 1-2 times per week as well. always in socks. it's a pretty intimidating look...

I'm going to try the croc thing. Even though I wear a stability shoe, do you think it's okay to do some miles in them? Humm maybe our next long run together should just be in crocs.
