'Twas another brighter day than usual.  Enough snow has melted that I could roll up a few of the Christmas lights.  I waited till peak warmth at mid-day to run.  After fixing the girls' bikes, they bailed and said they didn't want to come with me.  So I ran alone to Freedom Hills Park.  When the switchback trail beckoned, I couldn't refuse.  Halfway up, the wet trail gave way to slippy, snowy trail.  Still, I continued on, slipping all over the place, running through the weeks at the very edge where the snow had melted.  Repeated the cycle three times.  Ugh.  Between the snow and my current fitness level, getting to the top was a threshold-type activity.  I could have used a drink; alas, it will be 2 months before the drinking water is available.  I ran home.

In the evening we went couch shopping.  I bring this up because 18 months ago I ran a first place finish at a 5k in Fruit heights.  The prize was a $20 gift certificate to Crown Burger in Layton.  I finally redeemed it.  The shake was great.

Nice run, way to power through. And even nicer on the Crown Burger evening. I miss that place. We have nothing like it in town.

Way to go sticking with the challenging hill + snow combo, that can be grueling. I would have skated home after the first try.

Redeeming the race $? Sounds perfect. Shakes, mmmmm.

I love that they gave away a gift certificate to a burger joint for a 5k. Glad you finally redeemed it. :) Sounds like you earned it after your crazy climb!

Did you get a couch?

No couch yet, Rachelle. No decision, no matter how minor, is easy. We must perfectly balance style and comfort, so it's going to take some chasing.

My father-in-law LOVES Crown Burger!!!

I read somewhere that Americans eat about 13 billion hamburgers a year. If you put all those burgers in a straight line, they would circle the earth more than 32 times. If my calculations are correct that is more than 30 thousand marathons and more than 257 thousand 5Ks!! That's a whole lot of burgers!

(Just thought you should know!) :)

It sounds like a 5k (prize) to couch plan. :)
