Long day.  5 hrs abs/upper body/intercostals raking leaves, dragging tarps, lifting heavy tarps.  Repeat endlessly.  After a weak dinner of french toast made from highly processed white bread dipped in factory farm eggs, I got an hour of racketball with my sons.  I got worked.  I spelled it that way because it's so noisy in those rooms with the ball caroming all over the place.  I was supposed to pick up my daughter at dance at this point, but the warm south wind blew all thoughts from my mind except running home.  I sent the boys in the car, and savored a dark run accompanied by dry leaves skittering along the pavement.

Warm south wind, leaves skittering along the pavement, and best of all: the 'caroming' ball. Oh yes, I like your account of Thursday. Love the way you start and finish with leaves. Were you aware that James Joyce would often employ a word/phrase at the start of a paragraph and then drop it in again at the end of the paragraph? Beautiful, Kam. Beautiful. Makes me feel warm.

Thanks, Bam. Opportunities to use the word "carom" are rare. I'm paying for my hubris this morning. I feel like I was on the wrong end of a collision with a truck.

Thursday odyssey, that's what that was. Someone should write a race report Ulysses-style some day - of a marathon, of course. And of course, the Dublin marathon, they must have one there, right? And now I really want to make running the Dublin marathon someday a goal of mine! I would love it, and would love reading an Ulysses race report, just like the account of this little Thursday odyssey.

I felt like I just read a brief synopsis of one of Robert Frost's novels... and I liked it. Sometimes all I can think about is running, and I forget things like feeding the kids, picking up from school, stuff like that. I'd say you're doing fine:)
