Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 28, 20, 14 and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

I had a lot of fun reading everyones TOU race reports esp. Allie's.  It is so fun to see people have races like that, it reminds us that they do happen:)

Week 2 taper- plan on backing off to right around 48 or so.  And doing some shorter faster stuff.  I can't believe I can run a # below 60 it feels wierd but will enjoy every step of it.

How far below 3 are you shooting for at SGM? Are you planning on 1:32 the first half?

From josse on Sun, Sep 21, 2008 at 22:58:36

I will just see how the day goes. I would love around a 2:55 but that means I will have to really dig deep that 2nd half, which i know I can do. But yes about a 1:32 first half.

I was talking with a good friend and he was telling about some of his good experiences he has had in SG. And all of them started out with a 1:30-1:32 1st half and then negitive splitting by 5-10 mins. One year he ran a 1:30 1st half and then a 1:21 2nd half to end up with a 2:51. I really think the key to a good race is listening to your body and finding that point that is not quite to threshold and trying to maintain that. You are so welcome to pace with me the 1st half and then you can take off from there.

Last year I ran the first half in 1:29 and second half in 1:24. A big negative split is definitely the right way to do it. Maybe I will try to keep up with you during the first half but it will be you taking off from there. It sounds like there will be quite a few of us that should be within a minute or two of each other during the first half.

You are incredible. Did you know that my highest mile week to date is 43 miles? It kills me that your taper week still kicks my highest week out of the water, lol :). You are going to do awesome at SGM!! You have trained so well and have such a positive outlook with running. Good luck these next couple weeks and I look forward to seeing you in SG!!!

When I need some inspiration or determination - I come and read you blog reports. Very best to you, you really do deserve it with the efforts that you have made. You are an amazing person.

You gotta love cutting 20+ miles out of the week! Put all that extra energy into imagining how great it's going to feel to race and imagining an amazing race day. Thanks Josse for all your help this Summer, and recently too.... Whenever I'm at a breaking point, I always remember things you've said and I imagine how you'd power through. I will always appreciate having these ideas in my mind--and not just for the running. You are so tough. Anywayt, I hope you thoroughly enjoy all these delicious days of cool weather, lower mileage runs!
