Personal:

I am married with 3 lovely children 28, 20, 14 and a dog named Koda and a cat named Blue.  Love to run and be outside.  I believe that if you think you can do it and you work hard enough any thing is possible.   Life flashes by in the blink of an eye, enjoy it while it last and remember there is a lot more to life than running. I coach high school swim and love it!

Ok starting out I knew I was not going to feel fresh and I didn't.  I was tired from the get go and was wondering at first if I wanted to finish this thing.  My legs had no go to them, I was throwing up that acidy stuff into my mouth and mentally wasn't to into it.  But I decided to hang in and make it a good workout.  I definatlly was a good workout and a good pracitice on mentall tuffness.

My stepdad drove my mom, sister and myself to the start from Panguitche, got there and warmed up with the boys.  Then I saw Marcie right before the start.  We started together but she blasted out at the start and my legs didn't want to do that.  So I settled into 3rd place, where I stayed the whole race.  You start with a flat kind of up hill first 2 miles and then you have about 5 miles of screamin downhill, that completely trashes your legs.  Then you go through rollers untill the end.  Tough course on tired legs.

Cooled down with Marcie and alittle more by myself.  Over all I am happy that I was able to pull off a 3rd place finish and a 1:30 feeling the way I did.  Can't  complain about winning 300$.   I also PR by 5 mins form the last time I did this race.  Legs are more sore than after both spring marathons.  Did some hiking through Bryce canyon later that day.

Finally you post your race! Congratulations on running so tough even when on tired legs and acid issues. Your splits look really good, not much of a slowdown. We need more description on those splits though, like did you chick any guys?

From Lucia on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 15:43:55

Congratulations Josse! You're an inspiration!

From Jody on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 16:19:44

Great Job! Way to hang in there!

From Shauna on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 17:08:05

Great job! Especially impressive because you weren't feeling so hot. Awesome!

From Lybi on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 17:17:17

Wow! 5 minute PR on a really tough day! That makes it even more impressive. You are definitely getting faster--must be getting dragged (I mean, pulled) by that harness Sasha has. :) Enjoy your dough!

From Walter on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 17:23:22

Good job Josse! I felt like that on Moab half marathon. Luckily for me Logan helped me through it and sometimes on your days when you feel like that its not as bad as it seems huh? Dont you dare throw that trophy away! Like I told Marcie, dont spend that money on chocolates! It probably would have filled my truck up to get down there and back. So if you went in a car you'll have a little extra cash for chocolates. lol Hang tough.

It was great to have a Northern Utahner dare the trek south! You ran very well, good job.

From Bonnie on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 17:41:09

Congratulations on the race Josse! Good job getting in there and getting done with some important mental (and physical) issues to contend with!

From MarcieJ on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 17:43:07

Wait to go Josse, you impress me so much running so well on all those miles and hard workouts you have been putting in. It was so fun to run/walk/talk with you at the end. My legs and every muscle in my body is so trashed. I can hardly walk! SO SO SO SORE!!!!!

From marion on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 18:11:34

WOW! You are so great! REally- You are SO cool - even by my kids standards ;) WOW!!!! WOW!!!!

From James on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 19:14:58

I am with you on not running too hot. You did end up with a great race and some $$$ though, I only ended up with a crappy time and some major sore legs!

From Superfly on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 19:21:22

Good job yesterday. We are all hamburger. We should get together and have a hamburger helper party and sit around and tell each other how sore we are. Because we are!

From Adam RW on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 21:29:00

Great race Josse. At least your legs are letting you know that you gave it your all.

From James Holt on Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 21:41:19

Good job on the race and it was nice to meet you.

From Paul T on Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 10:05:43

I just wanted to add my congratulations, Josse. A great race on high mileage with little to no taper. Your training efforts have been awe inspiring, and apparently effective.

From josse on Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 10:32:37

Thanks for all the on going support. I love this blog and the effort that is put into it.

From Cal on Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 11:14:49

Great job Josse! You're hard work has really paid off $$$ this year.

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 14:16:47

You know you are in shape when you can puke your way to the cash!

From luzylew on Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 18:10:47

I'd say, if you were running tired, hot, and acid stomach--and you still came in third-- you've acheived mental toughness. I'm sorry it was a tough race, but you did 'totally awesome' in spite of it all (to use a phrase)......The $300 bucks ain't bad either.

From Brent on Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 18:15:53

Queen Josse still Rools, mile 7 and 8 splits impressive after the transistion from down hill. 3rd place and cash. 500 commando points for the 3rd place.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

Great job on the strong run even when not quite feeling it!
