Quick report- ran the most disappointing race of my life in terms of expectations vs performance. Heck, I even got quadruple chicked. But, I had a blast on the muddiest run I've ever had. Rain and mud the whole time. 50 miles of mud and steep hills were very enjoyable. Bad race, fun run. More to follow.

Update 4 months later- finally did a Race Report compilation, including for this race. It's all on my Greenshortsrunning blog

Sorry it didn't go the way you wanted, sounds like quite an experience though!

Seemed like the weather really shook things up. Bummer that you didn't have the competitive race you wanted, but I have no doubts that you ran hard and its good to see that you had a good time as well.

Looking forward to reading your full report 6 months from now :-)

Sorry that it didn't go as expected. Conditions like that definitely make things harder to predict.

International guys went 1 and 2 !?! Probably not a huge surprise. Heras at 37 years old must be a machine.

Hope I didn't come across as upset- I actually loved the race, mainly cause I loved the mud. Didn't run well, but that happens. Interestingly enough, I tied my first 50 mile time to the second. And, the online results have moved me from 38 to 40 and now to 37. More of that and I actually might break into the top... 35 :)

Jake- love the "6 months" shot. Hopefully it will be soon. I figure if I wait long enough, no one will be interested anymore!

haha, you know I'm just messing with you. It was too easy since you just posted the report from a early 2012 race a week ago.

Great year Jon. Looking forward to seeing whatever you decide to do next. I was looking at the new Trail Runner magazine last night - I gotta say, there are a lot of cool races out there!

Justin- here's a clue. It's related to a lottery this weekend.

From Cody on Fri, Dec 07, 2012 at 08:15:05 from 107.0.33.130

why its the western states 100 lottery. your odds are not good at 15.2% but better than last year. Want a pacer when you get in?
