I first ran to Ephraim's grave 6 years ago.  Every summer, I plan to return but never have... until now.  Joe, Cody and I finally made it.  The run starts up Willow Creek trail, then we took the Ephraim's cutoff route.  We made it to the grave and enjoyed a few snacks.  Then some running on a dirt road followed by a fun decent down Steel Hollow trail, which is one of my favorite downhill routes.  We are glad Joe survived, as well, since he just about biffed it in a location where there was a big rock right ahead of him and a small cliff on his right.

12 miles in all, 2800 feet climbing (per Cody's GPS), 8:57 avg pace (not too bad for that route, esp. considering we were at about 10-11 min avg pace before the last decent.  Had some sub-6:30's on the downhill parts).  It was an enjoyable, cool fall morning with some good views, a fair number of hunters, and even a little snow on parts of the trail.  We just enjoyed the run, even walking up a few of the steeper hills.  We are very lucky to live so near such beautiful mountains and trails.  Days like today are the reason I enjoy running.  Finished with a donut run.

Nice trail runs really do make running a lot more fun. We will have to try and plan something again this summer where we can do some kind of "camp" with great trail running.

Sounds like kind of a spooky place with Halloween coming up!

You are making me envious of beautiful mountains and trails that you get to run in. Any time that you have the desire to run along miles and miles of corn fields I can hook you up with some recommendations ;)

I love that trail on an atv jon! I never thought about running it! Were there alot of atvers? We did that this year on the atvs. Theres another trail up the canyon more and to the north side of the road that has the World War II Airplane crash site. Have you seen that? There are still pieces of plane all over there. We did that one and there is a monument of the names of those that died there. Then theres the Juniper trail that I did on a mountain bike when I was recovering from my wreck in 1993. You were probably in grade school then. Do I sound like an old man on the front porch right now? lol Ok Ill stop.

Walter- we were 80% on singletrack, so didn't see ATV's on those parts. We saw a pickup and 2 ATV's on the road part, not too bad.

We ran near the WWII airplane last summer but didn't go all the way to it. Yeah, Jardine Juniper is fun- you should come run it with us!

I know Jon I should come up there and have you and Cody beat me up on those trails some more. Its funny I know those areas up there better than my own back yard. I'll make a note to run more trails here so we can trade off.

Dont worry, Ill let you know next time were up there.
