Mill Race Marathon 2016: Went out slow (smart). 6:40-6:50 and staying controlled was the plan. With humidity , but, moderate temperatures (60 degrees up to about 75 degrees), I found myself in trouble around mile 18 at the planned pace. I slipped in to the 7 and 7:30 range by th last 5k. Crossed the line with a little surge and finished in a totally decent 3:02:36, for 13th.
Afterward, I got some gatorade and salty food quickly and kept the clock rolling in to some very easy/slow miles as add on. Some walking and a bit of jogging got me to 50k in 3:59. Finished the rest in the same manner. Ultra Training is hard!
