Today was the last in the series!!!  The weather was a little warmer and occasionally we had some sun which made it even warmer.  Lots of the same people from the previous two races but the total number of runners was smaller.  I had a good start and settled into my pace really easily today.  I felt great up until mile 7.  At mile 7 my knees really started to bother me and my legs really became tired.  The last two miles were pretty difficult and similar to the last two miles of last weeks 16 mile run.  When I got to the 9 mile mark I was so happy to only have .3 left.  I felt really good about my time today, I was right on with "Sasha Science".

In reflecting back over the series I am really glad that we signed up.  It has given us a good idea of were we are at and what we need to work on to develop over the coming months.  I really need to focus on longer runs and continue to build up my endurance for races like today and the half marathons and marathons.

It has been great to see all the bloggers at every race and the FRB has been so well represented.  Visiting and getting to spend time before and after the races is the best part!

Happy Running!

Jody! Way to go! 5th in your division is awesome! Wish I could have seen all you racers this morning. I miss the gabbing part before and after!

Jody, very good day today. As I mentioned, you and Paula do the Striders half if you can. You will like it much better than the 15K. Today's race was very mentally tough. Also, I agree, talking to bloggers after the race really puts some fun and comradery into the race.

Great job your race and pushing through those last couple miles.

Good strong race! Way to be strong at the end!

I love how upbeat your entry is. And at least your legs waited until mile 7 to get tired. You are going to have an amazing year with your awesome training.

Good run today. You really trashed you goal of sub 1:20:00. Keep it up!

Great job Jody! For those of us who don't calculate splits in our heads...what was your ave. pace?

From steve ashbaker on Sun, Feb 24, 2008 at 10:17:24

Good run! And if you want to develop more endurance, I have a few suggestions if you are interested.

From Christi on Sun, Feb 24, 2008 at 10:21:43

Beautiful Jody! Wasn't your goal to get under 1:20? You smashed it!! Excellent job (and GREAT pace!) Congrats!

From Benn on Sun, Feb 24, 2008 at 10:53:30

WOoT! Way to smash that goal and run a SUPER RACE!@

From Jody on Sun, Feb 24, 2008 at 11:38:27

Thanks everyone for all the comments!!

Lybi - my ave pace was 8:14. Definitely the last two miles were slow.

Jody--I'm not sure I remembered your e-mail address correctly, so in case you don't get the e-mail, here's what my running group is doing this week. On Tuesday we're meeting at 6am at Bingham High in the south parking lot. On Thursday we're meeting at 5:30am at the So. Jordan park, which is approximately 109th So. off of 2200 W. We try to get in 6 to 9 miles each time with speedwork thrown in. It's a lot of fun, so hope you and Paula (and anyone else who may read this and is interested) can make it!
