Glad to be back at it today.  I realized yesterday what a disaster I am when I do not run.  I had no focus at work and was pretty depressed the entire day.   Today was nice - a slight breeze and not to cold.  We ran a pretty flat easy course today so I really tried to push myself.  I started not feeling very well the second half and I am wondering if I should be eating before I run.   I haven't been but I am wondering if that is contributing to the icky stomach feeling.

Glad you were ablet get your run in this morning. I agree that the day just seems better with a run in it. Did you know that dad was being sworn in to the city council last night?? I had no clue, so I'll be making a phone call. Did I tell you that Matt is going to be doing EFY this summer?

From MarcieJ on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 10:24:28

I totally agree with you, when I do not run I feel like crap, I dont want to get dressed, afraid they wont fit (thank goodness for scrubs!) and I am in a bad mood as well (ask Garrett-he could bearly stand me last night:)

On the eating it may help, I cant run with food in my belly. I run better on a empty stomach but experiment and see if it helps you. I know lots of people who HAVE to eat a little before they run.

From Jody on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 11:27:14

Andee - no I did not know, but either did Mom, so I do not feel so bad. Matt will do great at EFY - is it part of his regular employement?

From Michelle on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 12:35:31

Question? Are you and Andee sisters? I guess that is obvious now! I'm not sure I can see the resemblance but the blog pics aren't the best way to see that either! Nice job pushing the pace today! It must not be too cold, freezing here this morning, I haven't made it out yet!

From Jody on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 13:07:07

Michelle,

Yes, Andee and I are sisters. Marcie J is married to our youngest brother. I look nothing like the rest of my family. They are all very tan and blondish. I am whiter that white and dark haired right now (and originally). I used to wonder if I was really in the right family but I have to many of the personality characteristics.

From andee on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 14:12:38

Jody - you are a true Jacobsen. Your dedication and competitive drive in running are sure signs! And you are not was white as you used to be, remember your nice tan last summer?!

From Lybi on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 14:29:01

Cute! It is fun to have a sister on the blog, isn't it? Laura is my sister.

I can't eat a meal for at least 2 hours before I run, but there are certain foods that I can get away with later. I can seriously eat a whole banana and then run 5 miles and never have a single cramp. Let's here it for bananas!

From Bethany on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 14:41:24

Im an finding that I am the same as Lybi. Anything closer than 2 hours before I run and I am hating life (and my tummy, and whatever I ate, and everything else in the world...) I just play it safe and wait the two hours. I also get tired easily if I dont eat anything ie first thing in the morning before breakfast...darned if you do, darned if you dont...Good luck finding what works best for you. And great running by the way. You are amazing.

From Jody on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 15:12:25

Yes, I do have to say I had a very nice tan last summer (thank you baseball and swimming pool). It was the darkest I have ever been. I looked healthy and normal.

From MarcieJ on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 18:02:46

Hey I did not know about your dad being sworn in til that night right before, Garrett must have been the only one to know, you know those men (mainly Jacobsens) they dont speak up alot! And I think you look like your family!!!!

From Shauna on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 19:09:53

I was originally just going to comment on how speedy your pace is (great job!), but I like hearing about the family connection too! Fun! My sister runs too, but I'm not sure she would be interested in blogging. She ran her first marathon last summer, without ever looking at a watch during the race or in any of her training runs!

From Brent on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 20:57:12

Jody, nice to have a running family, cool. Keep up the good work. (with you on the day off, never really know if it helps, I have had 1 day off in 3 months).

Stay cool, b of bs rools out

From Christi on Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 00:16:07

Jody- Awesome pace! Isn't it funny that part of the reason we run is for our mental health. But when we skip a run we go CRAZY! Catch 22. All this sisterly love is making me want to pressure my sis more to get on the blog. We used to run together, but she's slacked off. She comments from time to time...You're luck to have such a cool family!
