Nice easy three miles with Paula and some rain.  It was chilly this morning.  Came back and did some core training using the workout in the new Runner's World - not to bad.

.Your making great progress. Have you signed up for any races this month?

In answer to your question we are flying out of Vegas for Atlanta on June 29th and will fly back on the 9th.

From Jody on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 11:17:33

Linda,

I have two this month - Heart of Holladay 5K this Saturday and then the Westfest 5K on the 28th. I am getting tired of the 5k's but there are always plenty and it is good speed work.

From Kim on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 11:22:41

Good job Jody! When I met you at the 10K earlier in the year you had reddish hair and I wouldn't have known it was you from your picture. What color will it be Saturday? Mine actually has more red in it than last time you seen me. Looking forward to one of us getting into SGM on Saturday!

From Jody on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 11:24:27

Kim -

My hair has changed color again - I have hair ADD. It is pretty close to the same as my picture - Have you run Heart of Holladay before?

From Kim on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 11:56:49

Jody-

No, I have not ran H of H before. I am kind of excited to be there though. When Tom and I were young and had only 2 kids and lived in apartments we lived in that area. So it will fun to run there.

I hope you have a great race. It's too bad to see your March, April and May races crossed off for circumstances beyond your control. Time for a new 5K PR!

From Jody on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 11:58:54

Kim,

I am going to drive the route today. It seems pretty flat with a little up hill at the end from what I know of that area.

I do not think I will PR, but I am hoping to just have a strong race and lots of fun.

From Kim on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 12:12:12

A strong race and lots of fun is more important than a PR! I'm hoping for the same. You'll have to let me know what you find out about the course.

I've been using the core workouts from the July issue of Runner's World. I like them a lot. I think it will make me a better runner in the long run anyways.

From Jody on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 16:42:59

Kim,

I went and drove the route during my lunch. The first mile is mostly flat with teeny little rolling inclines. Once you turn off of Holladay Blvd. it is down hill and the flat and then you have a good up hill section (maybe .25 to much I think for a 5k) but I want fast. The last is flat and rolling - just like the first.

Can't wait to see you there!

Thanks Jody,

It's kind of nice to know the layout of the race. Even if you had to use precious gas to run through it. So we've got about a quarter of a mile that will want to rule us, but guess what Jody....it won't! Right!? =)

From Cal on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 18:03:37

Jody,

Are you still considering the Deseret News Marathon next month?

From Jody on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 19:00:41

Kim - No it won't rule us - I hope!

Cal -

I am not sure at this point. My training has suffered quite a bit. I am going to plan and train as if I was but make a decision as I get closer. If not, I am planning on running Top of Utah. Are you running either?

From Brent on Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 19:42:28

Jody, I vote for purple hair for both of you, even Cal, it will make it easier to keep you in sight.

Nice run today, it was cold!

From Benn on Thu, Jun 12, 2008 at 11:43:05

Brent - Purple?! Why not toxic green?! Or better yet that Flourescent Orange that pierces the retina! :)

Jody - Good luck @ the 5k this weekend :) Slice 'em and dice 'em! Take no prisoners and don't stop passing people until the tape! You can do it!
