Hiked the Virgin River Narrows top-down from Chamberlain's Ranch to Temple of Sinawava. One of the most spectacular walks we have ever done. You can't help but just be in awe the entire time. Also, neoprene socks are amazing.

Pictures don't really do the scenery justice. But imagine 8 hours of this...

After I took this last photo I put my camera away for the rest of the hike because I knew I wouldn't get such good natural light and take a better shot (possibly ever).

Really amazing scenery - thanks for sharing!

Skip Park City on your next Utah trip with the family and go here. You will love it. A long weekend at Zion has become an annual thing for us.

I was going to hike that once but I didn't want to get wet.

Required for this one, even when the water levels are as low as they get. We walked in the river for roughly 14 of the 16 miles. It was never much deeper than your knees, most of the time ankle/shin high. Between the extra-cushy neoprene socks and being in cool water all day, your feet definitely aren't sore even after that much hiking :-)

Beautiful! Definitely have to do that part of our next visit to ZNP.

FYI there's a bit of logistics involved in the top-down route... you need to get a permit (best done well ahead of time) and arrange transport (we used Zion Adventures) to drop you off at the start.

But if you start in the main canyon, you can hit a lot of the very scenic parts by walking up river ~4-5 miles and then just returning the way you came.

Sounds like a great idea, Jake!

Shew! I was starting to worry THE END on Sun, Aug 07, 2016 was really the end... Rad photographs!

From Jake K on Wed, Sep 07, 2016 at 16:53:16 from 199.190.170.31

The word rad just isn't used enough. That's a good description for the narrows. We kept saying "this is like Little Wild Horse / Ding / Dang... on major steroids... with a river running through it"

There's never an end, I just needed another set of dope photos to get myself motivated to catch back up. Recapping the Euro trip was exhausting, although not nearly as exhausting as the trip itself!

Fantastic pictures, thanks Jake! I did that trip 24 years ago (that makes me feel ancient) and it was amazing. We overnighted so had packs on but it was such a cool experience. I did NOT get any pictures near as rad as yours, so thanks for reviving some great memories.

That's cool, Russ. Definitely one of the more unique places to setup camp for the night.

I bet one of the big differences between now and 24 years ago is that when you get to the end of the trail where most of the people are lingering, there were a lot less people holding up full-sized ipads to take pictures back then :-) Early 90s... so that was like iPad 1 era?

Looks rough.

From Russ on Sun, Sep 11, 2016 at 07:45:02 from 63.158.87.14

LOL Jake (I literally did). Our 1992 iPads were pretty similar to today's, except they had no screens, no memory, and used 35mm film. But other than that, pretty close.
