I didn't even feel lazy about not running this morning... and then I read about Yuki Kawauchi's latest feat: This one goes up to eleven.

Yeah, I saw that also. He is definitely one of my favorite marathoners right up there with Steve Jones and the like. Incredible tenacity and work ethic.
How is your recovery coming along?

Obviously he's the exception, not the rule. But he definitely proves is that not all "rules" apply to everyone. Some people live at the fringes of the bell curve. Definitely a tough racer and he seems like a really humble, nice guy. Kind of sad that he's run a half-dozen marathons this year faster than anyone in the USA except Ritz.
My recovery is going very well. The old Jake would have been running last Tuesday. I know what I need to bounce back and have a great spring season, though. Rest is the ticket at the moment. I feel invigorated and I'm a little anxious to get going again, but taking it easy isn't so bad :-)

You definitely deserve it.

Smart resting, Jake. Yeah, Yuki Kawauchi is incredible.

I love to see how seriously you are taking this resting business. You have even inspired me to spend some more time on my bum :)

I'm glad my one off week this year is what lights the fire! :-)

This dude seems pretty consistent. Amazing how he's run so many marathons this year, too.

Jake - quick question: Hurricanes or Guides to replace my Asics Kayanos (heavy/cushiony). Most runs are Mirages and I love them.
From Jake K on Mon, Dec 16, 2013 at 21:55:28 from 67.177.11.154
The Hurricane would be a closer match (a plush, cushioned shoe) to the Kayano. But I think its an upgrade... Asics puts a lot of unnecessary plastic in their shoes and gel is an outdated cushioning material. They made the newer Hurricanes lighter, so it should have a similar feel to the Mirage, just a little more "substance" to it.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. A Mirage for my recovery runs. Interesting about the Asics. I've been looking for quite some time for something other to try. Should be a fun upgrade. Thanks for your help!
