AM - 6.5 miles. Another nice JAJA run through Sugarhouse neighborhoods. My legs felt really good, which means I did the workout at the right effort level yesterday.

PM - 4 miles. Ran a couple loops around Sugarhouse park, then finished on the track with 8 x 100m (16-17 seconds). Just strided out on the straights and ran the turns easy.

We are still planning to do the free Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5K on Saturday morning at the Highland track. The weather looks like its going to be off & on gross all day, and we need to get the workout in no matter what, so we're just going to do it rain or shine or snow or ice or sleet or rainbows. If anyone is planning to come that hasn't told us yet, let us know so we make sure we have enough chocolate milk! New Time = 9:00am

FYI - Saucony is looking for wear testers for women's size 8 and men's size 10. They want people averaging at least 40 miles / week. You can email them and ask for an application: Weartest@Saucony.com

Jake,

Just found out that I'm moving offices Saturday. Wish I could make it but won't be able to. I'm bummed. However, I am stoked for next years track races. That'll motivate me to get my mile time down.

Also, what's so great about size 10? Everyone knows that optimal wear testers wear size 11s.

Bummer you can't make it!

I agree... 11 is where its at. For a few years I did wear testing for Nike and they were using people who wore 11s. But I think 8W/10M are the most common sizes, and that is why its the current standard.

Darn it I wish I wore size 8 but I have baby feet.

I am bummed I can't come up for the 5k but I have a family thing Saturday morning. Drink some chocolate milk for me. :)

Tell me about these track races next year that ACorn mentioned. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Dale - what we'd like to do next summer is some more "informal" track races. Shorter stuff, like the 800, mile, 2-mile... and some kids dashes if parents want to bring the little ones. Just get a group together on a weeknight, run a few heats, then go out for ice cream afterwards! I think it would be a lot of fun. There are tons of awesome road races in Utah, but not many opportunities to run on the track. Hopefully we'll be able to make this happen. I imagine we will actually have a good amount of support for this.

Count me in!!! I've been saying for a long time that I wish there were some track races in Utah. That would be awesome. That'll give me something to look forward to next summer.

I want in on the track races too. Keep me posted.

You can count me in for Saturday although I have run at 5k pace for....maybe 5 months. :) I am a wear tester for Nike but I wonder if there is correlation between wearing those and my injuries. Thanks for the tip on the Sauconys.

james and i are in for saturday. we can certainly help with anything if needed...

Allie - weren't you a long jump pro? I'd like to see that in action!

From DaleG on Thu, Nov 10, 2011 at 20:46:10 from 152.216.11.5

I wish I could be there. I'm sure you'll all have a lot of fun, especially watching Allie long-jumping.

From Jake K on Thu, Nov 10, 2011 at 21:37:38 from 67.177.21.60

Allie the discus question prompted me to create an entire blog post about the day that I threw the javelin. Enjoy...

Thanks for the Saucony heads up. I just sent them an email.

I'm probably going to start focusing more on the hammer throw
