AM - 14 miles. 6 mile AT Tempo in 30:53 (5:09/mi avg) - 5:11, 5:10, 5:11, 5:08, 5:08, 5:06. Tempo loop. 4 up, 4 down. Got started a little quick (was aiming for ~5:15) but since I was only going 6 miles I just rolled with it, even though it was at the very fast end of the AT spectrum.

PM - 4 miles.

Orginally was planning on waiting a few more days before doing a workout, but I bounced back from TOU even quicker than I expected. I'll be honest, when I saw the finishing clock that morning my first thought was uhohcrapioverdidthis. But, that's why perceived effort is more important than what clocks tell you. I knew I didn't run the marathon too hard while I was in the midst of it, and the way I've felt over the past week has backed that up. Of course, how I feel right now is still sort of irrelevant... how I feel over the next 2-3 weeks will ultimately be the test.

Very nice tempo Jake. A few weeks of runs like this (extending the distance of course) and you'll be ready to hit 1:04:xx at Indy.

Get that OT qualifier!

I'm trying! :-)

Can't force it though. Just gotta make the small steps forward. It doesn't have to happen this fall, but I'll give it my best shot.

Excellent workout Jake. I'm pretty sure you weren't even entertaining the idea of a wo like this 8 days after TOU last year. You have truly jumped to a new level in my opinion. Which is not easy to do when you are running at your level!

Oh just get it over with!

I'm using hobbling around at 8:30 pace a week out from the marathon. We'll give all the credit to those gel packets :-)

I'm glad I didn't chase down Scott. I'm sure I'd be regretting it right now if I did.

Wow! Looking great, Jake! Even more impressive given you are only one week out from TOU.

It is motivating to check out your workouts. Make sure I know if you are racing in the Kansas city area.

Thanks Yasir. I will try and get another one of the KC Running Co's races on my schedule next year. I really liked the Plaza 10K. I know they have a good HM on the parkway in April, too. So that might be worth checking out.
