Great first day of training for St. George. I've been pretty nervous for the last couple weeks about the ramifications of running a marathon with 1000' of downhill 6 weeks before the Monumental 1/2. So, why not just run another one 4 weeks out that drops 2.5X that amount? I'm kidding, obviously :-)
Felt like it was wise to take the day off and be pretty lazy. I've got a nice chunk of time between now and Monumental (I decided on Indy instead of Des Moines just in case TOU ended up being quicker than planned, which ended up being good thinking... I knew I couldn't trust myself). No need to rush things, I just want to get in a good 3-4 week block of solid workouts leading up to that race. I'm going to take it pretty easy this week (reverse taper) and while I'm definitely following the "listen to your body" approach, I won't do anything too hard for at least 10 days.
