AM - 8 miles. 5000m Time Trial on the Highland track. I wanted to get in a harder effort this weekend, but I was out of town for yesterday's races, so decided to run a time trial on the track instead. I ran 15:22.7 (on Andrea's official stopwatch), which is actually 8 seconds better than my track PR from college. I came through 3200 in 9:45, then sort of fell off the pace in the last mile... running solo is tough. I think this was a good tuneup for next weekend, and especially encouraging after eating camp food (ie. bacon and bacon-related products) for the last 3 days! :-)

PM - 4 miles easy.

Andrea and I took my Dad up to Snowbird for Oktoberfest and a scenic tram ride during the afternoon. Wispy clouds made for some cool photos. More pictures here

I also put up some pics from my camping trip to the Uintas. The mosquitoes are past their peak and hardly noticeable, so if you're looking for some running/hiking at 10K feet, now is the time to get up the Mirror Lake highway before the snow starts flying again!

I could pace you for the first mile maybe.. Great job though, I love that track.

From Andrea on Sun, Aug 21, 2011 at 18:22:18 from 67.177.21.60

This was officially timed on my watch - it should be a race report!!

From Superfly on Sun, Aug 21, 2011 at 18:28:19 from 74.211.21.81

Maybe that's why I never get very good. I eat bacon and bacon related products all the time:)

I agree with Andrea,

track + stopwatch = race report.

It will make your real race, with competition look that much more impressive ;-)

PS I love that track.

Yes, PS-I love that track:)

My lack of proper grammar and English language are glaringly apparent at times..

Maybe MORE bacon-related products are the key?

I got a nice laugh from the Bacon comment. More power to you! :)

15:22!!!! Need I write more!

Love the picture. Glad you got to take your Dad to Oktoberfest. So cool Jake.

Gotta love the August "Oktoborfest" at Snowbird!

I'd really like to join you for some long runs. It gets so hard squeezing the training in once fall rolls around and school/cross country starts. We have Saturday meets which really cuts down on my racing.Basically, my running takes a back seat to my coaching. This is the first year in a long time that I've committed to a fall marathon and it's going to be a challenge getting the miles in.

Rob I'm definitely down for Sunday long runs too, especially on weekends when we have races. After TOU, we'll try to start coordinating.

If you need a good warm up for your xterra race you should check out the Hidden Peak 6k Challenge on Sept. 17. Bottom to top of tram = leg burn. It has to rank up there with my favorite races.

Fritz I was actually thinking of running that one (the idea of taking the tram back down and not trashing my legs is VERY appealing to me) but we'll be in Moab w/ Andrea's family that weekend.

Nice pics Jake. That country is so amazing! Nice trial too!
