Your paltry effort this morning was not enough to overcome my mileage board domination.

Wow great self control this morning Jake. Most impressive run all week. :)

Rob I guess everyone is dropping their mileage for SH Relays?
I was actually only going to run 3 but tagged on the extra mile looking around for Andrea and Lacie at the park.
I'm finding it pretty easy to take tapering/recovery more seriously after a battling a few injuries. I'm aiming to run quite a bit less mileage this summer than I did last year.

Jake 4 miles in the morning for your volume is like the equivalent of me doing 2 miles (maybe 2.5, but last year you had more than double my mileage)!
That's smart though; I think you are going to do better than you anticipate, especially since you aren't placing any pressure on yourself.
I have a time in my mind I think you can run, but I won't say it so that I don't place pressure on you either ;-)
What are you thinking for pace the first few miles? I think Bryant and Brad may go for 5:00 pace right off the bat. But, I wouldn't mind going closer to 5:05-5:08 and easing into a faster pace over the first few miles. But I also wouldn't mind having someone to run/work with early on, so if our thoughts/strategy align at all let me know.

First 3 are pretty quick, you don't really start the rolling hills until after 5K. So it's hard to hold back a lot there, but it's probably also wise...
I'm very committed to not getting out any quicker than 5:05-5:10 but im really going to just base it on how i feel saturday morning. I hate racing w/ a Garmin but I'm actually considering wearing it just to have a little speed check early on. I haven't talked to Paul but he's a smarter racer than anyone else here and I anticipate he will be targeting a conservative start as well. I'm definitely down for packing up and making sure it doesn't get out of control early. It's going to be like a XC start.

yeah... xc style suggs.. It's just fierce.. I'll never forget going through the mile at 2010 pre nats sitting prob 2/3rds through the pack and opening a fun 4:37 mile 1... No 4:37's for the first mile this weekend boys.
Looking forward to seeing the great results! Several Utah guys are running this year. Going to be awesome to see! Good luck to you both and run fast!

Who else is running other than you, Riley, and Paul?
From RileyCook on Wed, Jun 19, 2013 at 10:42:58 from 132.3.45.83
Jason, I think that is all from the blog. But as for other Utahns, Bryant Jensen who I train with is running (he recently won the Utah Valley Marathon in 2:20) and so is Brad Osguthorpe who was a teammate of mine in college and who has run a 1:05:02 at Utah Valley Half two years ago. Finally, Jason Holt from Utah is also running and I think he's done 1:08 or so for the half.

Rob and Steve are running the Gerry Bjorkland 1/2, which starts just after the championship races.
No one else from the blog as far as I know.
