AM - 9 miles up to work... first couple miles w/ Andrea.

PM - 5.5 miles down to SHP and around the park. First 2 easy, then a 2.5 mile tempo (~2% downhill) in 12:07 (4:58, 4:47, 2:22 - 4:51/mi avg). Cooled down a mile with Andrea. This was pretty easy... just wanted to do something a little faster. Simulating the opening miles of Boston, except that I'll be going at least 25 seconds slower per mile!

I'm not going up for the Striders 1/2 on Saturday. Made the executive decision this morning. Even a super-controlled effort doesn't make any sense. I used the "is this stupid?" litmus test and the answer was "yes." I don't trust myself to not race.  

Saucony is launching a new project today. I can't post the link yet, but here's a preview...

Good call on striders. It's all logged in your legs at this point anyways. After Boston I have a feeling Utah's fastest kept secret is about to be exposed. Get the new Saucony get up yet?

The weather looks clear on Saturday up here, Rachelle, just 20 degrees warmer in SLC than Huntsville :-)

PRE - that's it man! Boston is really all that matters at this point.

Plus the Saucony rep had to cancel her trip, so we don't need to go up to Layton w/ her... so NOT driving up there just seemed like a really good idea :-)

Glad you're not doing Striders, so that my course record can stand for another year. :-) Striders was a week earlier last year, so I had over two weeks recovery...slightly less stupid to run that + Boston.

I wasn't coming near your record anyways! If I ran faster than 1:09 that would have really set off the alarms on the "stupid" meter!! But I figured after that 26K tempo a few weeks ago, I don't need another long effort.

2 weeks out, its a perfect race for a last harder effort.
