AM - 10.2 miles. Met AdamRW and ACorn - we ran down to Memory Grove and back, finishing up just as the rain/snow started to pick up. Perfect timing. Another good run w/ friends this morning.

Today is the best day of the year on Letsrun. I can't wait to order my 3.1 sticker. The latest from Chris McDougal gave me a good laugh :-)

PM - 5 miles. Drove over to horsepark and ran lots of laps on the grass. It hailed for part of the run. Meanwhile - here's where Andrea ran this morning.
----------

I've got a couple pairs of brand new, size 11 running shoes that are up for grabs (for free). I posted what they are on the discussion forum

hahaha, the stranger than fiction part about Lukas Verzbicas made me laugh.

Speaking of Chris McDougal his Born to Run protagonist Cabello Blanco was just found dead in the dessert after being missing on a run

From Jake K on Sun, Apr 01, 2012 at 10:47:25 from 67.177.21.60

I did hear about Micah / Blanco... that totally sucks. He was supposed to be one of the speakers at a pre-Boston event that Saucony was putting on. Bummer.

Thanks for the run this morning. I want a 3.1 sticker but think the joke would be lost on 99.9% of the population.

my favorite post on that message board thread is:

"I want one that says: 3.21 (Garmin)"

From Bonnie on Sun, Apr 01, 2012 at 11:47:26 from 150.135.114.144

It is the FIRST thing I did when I got up this morning (check LR for the homepage). It was awesome, and I love the 3.21 garmin!! That is too funny, and SO appropriate!

Dean went to a local track meet here yesterday (I was enroute back from DC), the Jim Click Shootout (http://athletics.arizona.edu/tfstats/tf/) - it was collegiate, with a few "unattached" runners as well. The distance stuff was so-so (Sambu and Lawi Lalang ran off-distance and dominated) - there was a 3 guy race in the steeple, with some guy from Cal with a seed time 15 secs faster than the two U of A guys. Well, apparently the Cal guy went out hard, and with 2 laps to go he was getting caught by one of the UofA guys. He tried to keep in front, but it as apparent that he was getting pretty tired. Well, when he got to the water barrier (the last one) he had some sort of misstep that he couldn't correct and flipped over (essentially on his belly) head-first into the water pit ... classic, I love the Steeple.

Anyway - the highlight of the meet was in the women's high hurdles -- Queen Harrison (won both the 100 and 400 meter NCAA titles in 2010) was there. The studs of the race, however, were two women from Clemson -- the race was SO fast (won in 12.68) that Queen Harrison came in 3rd!!! with a 12.79! That is pretty impressive for a small local meet.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who thinks aprils fools day is among the best holidays just b/c of Letsrun (and google has recently had some good pranks as well).

That's a pretty good low key meet. Lawi ran the 800... the must have been a humbling experience for the other guys in the field :-) Steeple mishaps are always hilarious - here's my best friend from college, during our senior year of high school, sectional championships - he was mad that i beat him in the 3200m, so he decided to run the steeple at the end of the meet to redeem himself. The rest is history...

Jake, I wear a size 11 Brooks and if they fit I'd love to take a pair! We'll be in Salt Lake Wednesday night so if they're still available maybe I could meet you somewhere? We'll be at the new City Creek and going to a Jazz game. Can't wait.

Thanks Jake those gave me a really good chuckle today.

From Jake K on Sun, Apr 01, 2012 at 18:39:28 from 67.177.21.60

Russ - for sure, we'll set something up. Send me a PM/email and let me know what time is good for you.

From Lily on Sun, Apr 01, 2012 at 19:40:01 from 67.199.178.210

Nice miles today Jake.

Andrea's picture made me happy and kinda ticked at the same time. I want to be on the beach right now soooo bad! But it looks so fun. Jealous.

From Adam RW on Mon, Apr 02, 2012 at 07:56:58 from 155.101.152.123

Hi Jake,

Thanks for the run this morning. Although I think I would have rather been on the beach running with Andrea. I don't know how you are going to get her home after that experience...

I also wear a size 11 and would be willing to give the Saucony or Asics a try.

Did you end up watching St. Ralph yesterday?

From Jake K on Mon, Apr 02, 2012 at 08:21:36 from 155.100.226.54

Hey Adam - I decided to save St Ralph until Andrea gets back - she'll want to see it too - seems like her type of movie. I'll set aside a pair of those shoes for you as well.

From Nate on Mon, Apr 02, 2012 at 08:39:08 from 67.20.217.232

Thanks for the LRC april's fool tip. I'm always mad when the first is on a weekend. I always miss a lot of them when I'm away from my computer for a the couple days

From jtshad on Mon, Apr 02, 2012 at 14:01:41 from 204.134.132.225

We are meeting with our Boston group in IF this Friday to watch "St. Ralph" (and videos of the 2009 event) as our motivational get together also. Funny and irreverant!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Apr 02, 2012 at 14:46:04 from 24.18.125.122

Saint Ralph is the best running movie ever! :)

That may not mean much coming from a Napoleon Dynamite fan...
