I decided that the stair test will determine when I am allowed to go for a jog again (not that I really even feel like it anyways right now). The rule is - if I don't feel comfortable quickly bounding up and down a flight of stairs, then no running. Seems objective and reasonable.

Did you notice that the article I posted yesterday referred to me as "Utah man"? Pretty awesome. Not "Utah boy" or "Utah semi-man who shaves his legs"? Apparently the standards are much looser in Arizona. And that's why I'll keep going there to race. I fear the Irish newspapers would not be so kind to me...

I don't think the AZ newspaper knew about the treadmill runs though.

and I didn't offer up that information!

You're right there:

"Lady Krong Prances To Victory!"

And then signs lucrative deal with Ladyshave.

I just sent them a link to this discussion so they can print a retraction.

But it will probably be on pace C-27 where no one will see it.

I'd say the odds are better than 50-50 that you will still catch me on the mileage board for the week even though I have a 23 mile head start.

I think all they care about is that I qualified for Boston. That's the only thing he wanted to talk about... I got a kick out of that. But in the reporter's defense, I also got the sense that it was his first time covering a race, so the article actually came out pretty good. Natalie's quote "its always nice to get another Boston Qualifier" was funny - she's in the elite field for Boston, I don't think she has to worry about a BQ time!

Nope, I'm going to attempt to be down in the single digits this week Rob. Giving myself a real break. Maybe I'll try the stairmaster one day :-) And hopefully doing nothing but skiing this upcoming weekend. I've got 10 weeks until the 25K, and I feel like it takes me about 6 weeks of hard workouts to get in pretty good shape. So no rush.

Lol. That was awesome. I like your stair test. I think I'll use that as my litmus as well.

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Mar 04, 2013 at 10:37:24 from 163.248.33.220

Oh yeah! Congrats on the BQ!

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Mar 04, 2013 at 12:20:49 from 163.248.33.220

I challenge you to a stairmaster duel!

Alright, after work one day. Your pick.

Do I need to get special crossfit shoes?

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Mar 04, 2013 at 12:32:54 from 163.248.33.220

No, but you might need a drip pan for the sweat.

From Jason D on Mon, Mar 04, 2013 at 22:05:22 from 24.1.80.94

It's funny how people outside of running latch on to the BQ. I'm not even there, but to have people ask about it, I stare off into space . . . that will be nice . . . but someday I'm going to run [insert undisclosed time] (or beat Bam, whichever is faster).

I know you are dying to get back into your treadmill routine, but any miles must be counted during a recovery. No reductions.
