AM - 7.3 miles up to work, easy pace. No watch, but I suspect it was faster than usual - I think this new addition of daylight helps me wake up quicker on the morning runs!

PM - 9 miles home.

Last night after the track workout I met a guy who "sold" me a pair of Icelantic Shaman skis that have only been skied on once... mint condition. I put sold in quotes because he was pretty much giving them away - I could easily re-sell them for double/triple what I paid on ebay in 30 minutes today if I wanted to. I've been looking to pick up a pair of these specific skis for about a year, and ended up paying about 1/3 of what I expected to... sweet deal. The good thing about this dry winter is that skiers are panicking and unloading all their excess gear! My gain for next season!

OR this season! Still plenty of powder days to come!

I hope it starts snowing on April 17th and doesn't stop for 10 straight days. That will keep me from running too much after Boston :-)

Those look like some sweet powder skis. All you need is a couple of kids and then you just stick to groomers with them. I think it's been good xtraining for my quads :) I love the perfect pushup handles, medicine ball and weights in the background. Are they living room art?

From Jake K on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 12:11:04 from 155.100.226.54

There is no point in ever putting them away b/c our living room doubles as an exercise room! :-)

Hey a quick question...what size Saucony tight shorts did you get? Do the run small and tight or are they pretty much to size? I wear a 31 waist pants and were size small running shorts, so should I get the small or medium in the tight shorts?

From Jake K on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 12:38:15 from 155.100.226.54

Get the small, that's what I have and they fit perfect.

Thanks for the feedback.

NIce grab on the skis and thanks for pointing me to fiddy's breakdown of elliptical speeds and their running equivalent. Cheers!

Sweet skis! I can almost guarantee powder days in June this year. Thanks for the kind words on my post today :)

Sweet skis!

From Jon on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 15:39:43 from 74.177.120.222

That thing is fatter than your head!

From Jake K on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 15:46:20 from 155.100.226.54

And by modern standards, they are considered "mid fat" skis... you should see some of the stuff guys strap to their feet.

From JD on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 16:08:23 from 71.213.33.129

in the old days, we called that a snowboard. :-)

From JD on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 16:20:15 from 71.213.33.129

"old days" aka 1985...

From Jake K on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 16:21:44 from 155.100.226.54

haha - they had snowboards back then? :-)

That is awesome about the skies!! Maybe you can do some Spring skiing after Boston.

From Kelli on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 20:28:06 from 71.219.85.126

Very cool ski, I like it. I so not ski, so I know nothing about it, but it looks cool!

Just ate some Kroger brand Peppermint Ice Cream and of course thought of you guys. SO GOOD!

From runningafterbabies on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 22:20:43 from 71.195.219.247

I think equipment stashed in a place they will be used is a very smart idea. Do you like the push up handles?

From Jake K on Fri, Feb 24, 2012 at 08:12:07 from 155.100.226.54

Yes I am a big fan of the perfect pushup! And the perfect pullup!

From MatthewVH on Fri, Feb 24, 2012 at 08:15:20 from 207.224.207.31

Sweet deal on skis! I need to get some touring equipment.

From Jake K on Fri, Feb 24, 2012 at 08:18:50 from 155.100.226.54

Matt - this is a good time to get touring stuff... people are dumping their gear - places like 2nd tracks have a good selection.

From prlman on Fri, Feb 24, 2012 at 19:24:19 from 208.54.4.202

Nice pick on the skiis, they are wide enough they could double a water skiis!! Use them year round.
