AM - 15.5 miles. 4 mi up, AT Reps: 2 x 4 miles in 21:41 (5:25/mi), 21:34 (5:23/mi) + 1 mile @ LT (5:00). Half mile steady b/w reps. Cooled down 1.5 mi home.

Usually I'd do a pretty hard workout 10 days out from the marathon, but due to going to bed too late, being up really early, and a mildly hectic day on tap, I modified it to be much more of a moderate session. No sense in risking getting in a recovery hole right now.

PM - 3.5 miles, easy shakeout. Resisted the urge to run home from work. Dropped off the jeep for repairs during the afternoon... the insurance people could not wrap their head around the fact that I wouldn't accept a rental car. I said I'd take a segway if they had one, and if not, I'll gladly take the bus. They didn't have a segway!

Good workout Jake. And to think you did it without ice-cream loading the night before.

Very nice Jake. Sorry about the break in to your jeep. At least you've got your shorts.

Nice workout Jake. You're looking primed for Phoenix.

Awesome workout Jake. Also sorry about your car yesterday. Things like that happening totally suck!

Nice session Jake. It's coming together nicely for PHX. Yo, look at me using US words (PHX) - might get me a baseball cap...

Bam - its more of an airport code than a real word, but us Americans don't really have the patience for words longer than 3-4 letters anyways...

Great work, Jake, and way to be smart with your workout - make that lemonade!

From SlowJoe on Wed, Feb 20, 2013 at 13:56:39 from 155.219.241.10

Just don't eat the lemonade snow.

"ON TAP"..... I just got thirsty!

From Jake K on Wed, Feb 20, 2013 at 20:43:28 from 67.177.11.154

The problem w/ lemonade snow is that you don't know if its from a spilled mountain dew or not, and the only way to find out is taste it. I'd hate to waste a good mountain dew.

They have segway tours where I run. They look ridiculous. Riding a segway would slow you down, wouldn't it?

I'm sure it would be much slower than actually running.

But wayyyyyyyy cooler looking.

From Tom K on Thu, Feb 21, 2013 at 08:41:31 from 71.228.90.171

The new definition of looking cool: You riding a Segway, with compression sleeves, and capri pants, @ 5 m.p.h.

BABE MAGNET!

With Andrea out of the country, that would be trouble. Its a good thing I didn't get it.

Is AT aerobic threshold? Whats the difference between that and lactate threshold? I guess I thought they were the same thing; at the highest level of your aerobic capacity, before being purely anaerobic and building up lactate quickly.

From Jake K on Thu, Feb 21, 2013 at 11:02:21 from 155.100.226.191

I can see how it would get a little confusing b/c I have seen people use "AT" to refer to ANaerobic threshold.

I used "AT" to mean aerobic threshold, basically marathon pace / effort.

LT / Lactate Threshold is exactly what you described above, which roughly corresponds to the pace you can hold for ~60 minutes. Often, b/c they are fairly close for me, I just figure that LT is slightly faster than my half-marathon pace.
