PM - 8 miles home, at a pace quicker than simply jogging for once! Followed by eccentric exercises and ice bucket.

Oh, and of course, me calling him a troll doesn't mean that he shouldn't have posted you, just that everyone on LRC is a troll. Hah.

great race Sat. Jake. Considering the health and injuries that you and a lot of other great guys/gals have had lately, this winter has been pretty decent thus far. Worst winter for training I have seen in a very long time. Hopefully leads to a great "real racing season"...

I thought you had a great race on Sat. I'm sure under the right conditions you surely would have met your goal - but the effort was solid and you're right on track for a big marathon breakthrough!

Sorry if this is causing you any embarrassment Jake.

Dave - Jake's lack of interest in engaging on this particular topic makes me wonder if I should have posted that comment. But I made it in all seriousness.
Jake's approach to this sport is inspiring to me as a runner and as a coach and he deserves any reward and recognition that comes to him as a result.

Not embarrassed... I do appreciate how highly you think of me! The problem with that website is thy those knuckleheads will probably think I posted that myself to draw attention to myself! Obviously not the case, but I still need to actually walk the walk and prove that I can compete with the big boys. Hopefully, this will be the year I make that jump...

You already have the credentials. I would bet that after you jump into some USATF races (this Spring?) that you can make a national team. I can't wait to see the LR thread "who is Jake Krong", or "deer Jake Krong". :-)

Here's another one for you: Marathon Talk - worth a look and listen.

Elk Bonnie LaFleur!
I was being a bit unnecessarily hard on myself yesterday after my 97 minute 10K over the weekend, and didn't feel like reading what the armchair QBs on Letsrun had to say. While its a great resource and good place for some entertainment, there's a lot of guys on that site who really think they know it all, despite being unable to break 18 minutes for a 5K :-)

Plus, lets be honest, its one thing to have confidence in yourself, but I don't deserve to even be mentioned in the same breath as a guy like Brian Sell, who I admire a lot. I really haven't done anything of significance (yet).
From Rob Murphy on Tue, Feb 12, 2013 at 13:50:55 from 163.248.33.220
But that's the key to being the next Brian Sell right? By definition it needs to be someone without great achievements who, because of his work ethic and consistency, breaks out and does amazing things.
The thread asked "who is the next Brian Sell". If that person had already run a 2:11 he's be the current Brian Sell. So if you've already made an Olympic team, your disqualified.
From Jake K on Tue, Feb 12, 2013 at 13:53:26 from 155.100.226.191
I hope Brian Sell is the next pope! That'll bring me back to my Catholic upbringing!
