Bill Simmons' article from late last week is a must read if you missed it - Daring to Ask the PED Question. Andrea started reading Tyler Hamilton's book as well, so this general subject has been a hot topic of conversation lately.

I never even questioned if NFL players took PED's. It's kind of obvious, I just figured it was the 'norm'.

Nice ten mile run to work. How's the quad?

i think justin tucker is clean.

interesting article -- as you have already mentioned, the governing bodies need to do a lot more to enforce the rules and prevent athletes from having any sort of opportunity or temptation to cheat. the NBA's method of testing is clearly flawed and everyone is aware of it -- as the article states, it's an ongoing joke among players. this widespread problem has been 'hushed' because these athletes are creating entertainment that sells.

i hope you saw the halftime show last night -- our standards for entertainment are pretty low. if it's super-human, it's awesome. if it's sexy, it's awesome. it doesn't matter if it's obtained through cheating or just general ridiculousness (winking, lip biting, clomping), we love it. god bless america.

I couldn't even watch the halftime show...I'm surprised that Utah allowed it to show on TV! It was truly awful...I just don't get it, apparently.

I love football, a lot, but with all the hype and ridiculous halftime shows, it almost seems like the whole thing is a joke. I might not watch it anymore.

I agree with allie on the whole NBA thing. They'll never do anything about it.

Andrea's real-time review of the halftime show was pretty spectacular. Some highlights...

"Isn't this a really old song?... couldn't she come up with something new?"

"She's just acting like a stripper!"

I think the lesson we all learned is that the Superbowl halftime show is only worth watching if BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN is crotch-sliding right into the cameras. Those were the good old days...

Bring back “Up With People”! (Super bowl Halftime act – 1971, 1976, 1980, 1982, and 1986.)

Oh, I just thought the half time show was a 30 minute long wardrobe malfunction.

Outstanding article Jake - thanks for posting. How is Andrea liking the Hamilton book?

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Feb 04, 2013 at 18:42:20 from 24.10.249.165

They certainly would have censored it if it were on KSL.

From Jake K on Mon, Feb 04, 2013 at 18:42:57 from 67.177.11.154

She's both captivated and incredibly disturbed by it, the same as me.

I thought Hamilton's book was a good read. I certainly don't condone what he or the others were doing, but he seems to have made an honest repentance effort. I kind of like the guy. With so many hands in the game and how seemingly unsophisticated it really was, its interesting how they were able to get away with it for so long.

Just finished Tyler Hamilton's book, it just makes you wonder even more how many top marathoners are using. It lays out pretty good the benefits and widespread corruption and cover up.

From Rob on Tue, Feb 05, 2013 at 17:40:30 from 198.228.200.32

I got through about 1/2 the book on my flight. Nothing surprised me at all except one thing. I thought its interesting how at that level they are like Wolves, with a pecking order, In their minds it was a level playing field because they knew how hard everyone else worked, and where they were "un-juiced". It wasn't until someone like Floyd came along and went outside the order that there were problems.
