AM - 11 miles. Horsepark loop w/ Andrea, then kept going for a while. The sun came out, and it actually looked wintery in the foothills. Nice morning.

PM - 4 miles. Andrea joined me for the afternoon shakeout!... which was great until she threw in a surge with a quarter mile to go :-)

Solid week. 143 miles (I count Monday - Sunday... I know I'm weird but it just seems more logical to me to count things that way)... and I've been building up continually for the past 6 weeks. Body feels good and strong - any aches I felt in December have gone away. The key now is to not start hitting the workouts too hard, but start incorporating a little more faster running.

No comments on Jake's workout?

Yeah, 143 miles is "solid".

I don't feel like I'm even doing anything right now! 140 w/ one token workout is actually pretty easy after getting used to 140 w/ 2-3 hard workouts during the fall. Just laying the foundation for now...

I am reminded often by Jing, my girlfriend, how much more you are running than me. Thanks for setting the bar ludicrously high!

That's my goal - to make 90 mile weeks seem like slacking off :-)

143 is crazy, well, normal for you, but crazy for all of us mere mortals. Awesome build up phase.

He told me yesterday that he was going to run under 100 miles this week so that he would have a week to absorb the training!

From Jake K on Mon, Jan 09, 2012 at 18:06:00 from 155.100.226.54

I never said that. Stop trolling the blog, Andrea.

From Paul on Mon, Jan 09, 2012 at 18:27:03 from 207.224.39.118

Yeah, you make me feel like a lazy bum. You're killing me in mileage while I'm doing peak marathon training, and you're just goofing off.

From Jake K on Mon, Jan 09, 2012 at 18:27:58 from 155.100.226.54

Paul don't you have a semi-competitive race coming up that you should be tapering for? The Ft Collins new years resolution run or something like that?
