AM - 17 miles. Mostly along the canal on the dirt. First 11.5 easy, then a 4 mile progressive tempo - 5:19, 5:17, 5:10, 5:04, and cooled down another mile and a half.

PM - 9 miles, grass loops at the park.

Since Andrea posted her Christmas day family photo, I'll post mine as well. Our dogs are not very well trained when it comes to looking at the camera...

Awesome workout Jake! I'm not sure your running enough on your runcation. :-)

I like you sisters boots.

Looks like you've had a wonderful Christmas runcation! :) I liked Rachelle's word, so I stole it. Nice tempo workout this morning and I love the idea of doing a hike on Christmas. I wish I lived somewhere that I could make that a tradition. Snow hiking isn't my favorite.

Still got 5 more days of Runcation :-)

We saw quite a few people out hiking on Christmas day. Its kind of a tradition when we have the opportunity. A few years ago, down here in Arizona, it was actually pouring rain on Christmas Day... needless to say we did a hike anyways -

Weaver's Needle was another good one -

But the best was probably 2010, when my parents came to Utah, and I took them up to Twin Lakes Pass after a 4 foot snowstorm -

Nice workout - Are you running along a canal in Phoenix? Last two times I have been there I have run along this lengthy canal which has packed dirt trails on both sides. Really nice for running (except for the occasional cross street) right?

From Jake K on Wed, Dec 26, 2012 at 17:55:50 from 98.165.228.80

Yeah Bret there are several canals throughout the valley... they run for a long ways. The one out by my parents' house only requires an occasional street crossing. Its pretty nice.

92 miles in the last 4 days?! Be careful...huge increase in mileage and intensity can be dangerous, no matter how much time you are relaxing the rest of the day!

From Jake K on Wed, Dec 26, 2012 at 17:57:08 from 98.165.228.80

I know, Andrea :-)

Microcycle, and funcycle. I'm not planning on keeping this up.

Your recovery ability is amazing. When I do efforts like the one you did yesterday, I am barely mincing along for a couple days. Anyway, glad you are enjoying it down there, sounds awesome!

Awesome running this week Jake! Great sessions. And, boy, if you could pick any 10 days throughout the year to be in AZ, you certainly picked the right ones. The weather in Utah is brutal right now!

From Lulu Walls on Thu, Dec 27, 2012 at 08:53:06 from 155.100.212.135

Couldn't you have tacked on another 0.2 to make it an even marathon?

Can't wait to see what your macrocycle looks like!!!

From Jake K on Thu, Dec 27, 2012 at 09:50:13 from 98.165.228.80

The macrocycle has more recovery days - I'll show you the master document sometime, its a work of art :-)

My ability to recover is my best asset... and sometimes biggest obstacle, because it allows me to almost do TOO much sometimes. Consistent mileage over a long haul does wonders for your body's ability to repair itself almost immediately.
