AM - 15 miles. LT Reps: 10 x 3/4 Mile (1/4 mi) in 3:41.2 average (4:55/mile pace). Splits - 3:45, 3:45, 3:45, 3:38, 3:42, 3:39, 3:41, 3:41, 3:40, 3:35. 3 up, 2.25 down.

I was shooting for ~8 @ 3:45, and thought with the cumulative fatigue of this past week, even that might not feel so hot. Was a little tired when I got up and opted to go for a walk with my parents and the dogs to wake up a bit. Then once I started the first rep I transitioned into robot mode and the whole session was actually a lot easier than I expected. The 4th rep got a little quick, and there was no going back after that. Could have stretched it out to 15 reps, but I had to get back and say goodbye to my sister before she left for the airport. The cool thing about this workout is that if you keep the recovery brisk, the whole thing averages out to well under marathon pace, even though you are jogging a quarter of it.

PM - 7 miles. Grass park loops.

I like that session, Jake. Very nice indeed. You've put together some serious training during your sojourn with your folks and it's going to pay huge dividends. Make sure you give yourself some time to allow your body to adapt to this training block. You're going to fly, Jakeyboy.

You have had a huge week, so impressive.

I love that whoever is walking the dog has a beanie and gloves on in AZ!!! Get ready for a freezing welcome home.

It was below freezing here this morning... 30 in Phoenix!

Bam - that's the plan... after new years day, I'm taking 4-5 days really, really easy to absorb this microcycle.

It's hard to get a good frame of reference sometimes with your crazy paces, but that seems like a REALLY good workout (even for you), especially if you averaged well under MP. Nice job.

Great work Jake! Fantastic week! You're incredible.

Wow, really impressive week. 150+ mpw is already huge, but getting in a handful of really good quality workouts with that kind of mileage just makes it that much harder. You're going to race extremely well this Spring.

Wow you just don't quit do you. Awesome week and I've decided that you really are a machine or something. Incredible workout and I am glad you enjoyed a nice walk. :) I'm sure thats why the workout went so great!

Thanks guys.

It's important to remember that a big week means absolutely nothing if done out of context. I planned on this, and set myself up for it over the previous couple weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to "absorb" it properly and reap the benefits. I can't believe I already have a race in 3 weeks. I'm definitely feeling more prepared now than 2 weeks ago!

Monster week Jake. Your body's ability to absorb volume and quality miles is staggering. Excellent work. OTQ here you come!

Amazing week and awesome trend for the end of the year. It is hard for me to grasp that you will likely end up with over 5900 miles for the year!
