AM - 15 miles... 10 w/ Andrea. Beautiful morning in Knoxville. Sunshine!

PM - 6 miles, shorts and t-shirt. And so ends the Tennessee holiday training camp. Flying back to SLC this evening.

Anyone want to meet up for a New Year's Eve run this Saturday morning? If anyone has suggestions on where we should meet - lets hear them! Otherwise we could always do the standard 8am / JRP / 3300S?

I'm planning on being there, I don't care to much where it is. Last year allie and I started at the Maverik at Thanksgiving point exit to try and entice more Utah County runners but it was -1 degrees and no one else showed up.

We have a good group running from Highland at 6:30 am on Saturday if you are interested. We are planning on a 16 mile loop and then maybe adding a few afterwards.

From Rob on Wed, Dec 28, 2011 at 11:47:53 from 72.55.212.141

Humm, I do like the 6:30 time better.

From Dragonvulture on Wed, Dec 28, 2011 at 12:32:31 from 71.213.20.94

We should have at least 5-8 runners on Saturday from Highland. A few of them sub 2:40 guys. Most days we end up running around a 7 minute pace. If you want directions text me at 8013107971 and I'll send you the info. A few of us have been running most weekdays at 5am from either somewhere in Lehi or Highland. Usually from 9-13 on weekdays, most days around 10ish.

630 sounds good in theory, but Andrea's plane gets in around midnight on Friday, so an early start may be a hard sell. We'll talk about it.

Wow, 91 miles already this week? Impressive!

From Dragonvulture on Wed, Dec 28, 2011 at 20:17:42 from 71.213.20.94

If it doesn't work out this week, we are pretty consistent every saturday morning somewhere, with a nice sized group if you are interested in joining us for a run. I was one of the six guys running with you at the beginning of the Buffalo 50k for the first few miles before you, Seth and Nick decided to start racing.

From Jake K on Wed, Dec 28, 2011 at 22:33:22 from 12.238.42.3

Scott - this is what happens when I'm on vacation!

Dragon - you gonna give the Buffalo Run another go this spring? That was back before I joined the blog, so I hardly knew anyone at that point. I had no idea who Seth was so needless to say it was a surprise when he was still around 25 miles into that one!

From Dragonvulture on Wed, Dec 28, 2011 at 22:52:41 from 71.213.20.94

I am going to do the 25k at Buffalo Run this year. I'm hoping to break 2:40 at Utah Valley, so doing a couple of shorter versions of races I like to do before hand. It was either go for under 2:40 or run Buffalo 50 miler and Squaw Peak 50. Didn't think I could do both the same year. I think Seth has actually started to train again, but I think he may be heading into longer distance stuff.

That is probably a good idea. That course can leave you a little banged up, so going for the 25K will get you a good race but you won't have the hangover effect and can keep pushing towards UVM.

TUCSON!! I have a route all picked out and everything ;-)!!

From Jake K on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 16:42:45 from 155.100.226.54

Only if we could run the Mt Lemmon marathon course! :-)

From Bonnie on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 16:46:18 from 64.119.33.134

Yikes ;-) I have a better route in mind for you guys -- nice dirt road, lots of hills, lots of saguaro's, no snakes on New Years Day!!

From Jake K on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 16:48:44 from 155.100.226.54

Now that sounds pretty nice.

I think we are going to run the Bandidos / Mountain to Fountain 15K in March. Seems like they have created a really good, competitive race... and it will be a good excuse to head south!

From Bonnie on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 17:02:53 from 64.119.33.134

Yes! I will likely run that race as well.

Last year Greg McMillan put a team together, they won pretty handly. Well, the winning team gets their weight in beer. The race directors were breathing a sigh of relief thinking, "great, all these little skinny marathoners can't weight too much", well, they were pretty surprised when they found out that one of the team members was a division I full-back (Jamie Winslow's, nee Canterbury - NAIA Champion in the mile - husband)!! He threw about 300lbs worth of beer right there! It was pretty funny.

From Jake K on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 17:04:13 from 155.100.226.54

It looks like a super fun race. I saw that McMillan's crew swept the mens and womens teams last year - but maybe we can put a "mixed" team together that can win that division.

From Bonnie on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 17:09:17 from 64.119.33.134

I bet you can!!! It will be great to meet you and Andrea - if I run it myself I won't be able to cheer you on though, since you will be showered and have eaten breakfast by the time I finish ;-)
