AM - 12.5 miles. Ocotillo + grass park loops. Same as yesterday, but even slower.

PM - 8 miles. Ocotillo loop.

Hiked the Peralta Trail up to Fremont Saddle this afternoon w/ my family. I've done this one before, but its always worth going back to... one of my favorite areas in Arizona... and such a beautiful day!

Sounds lovely but your really missing out on some good ice running. I think by the time you get back I might be able to beat you in an ice running race. :-)

I'll let you take the crown as the queen of ice running :-)

I hope I haven't lost my winter edge this week. I was freezing this afternoon and it was like 50 degrees!

If you've got a Nathan pack, you have to run an ultra sometime.

From Jake K on Fri, Dec 28, 2012 at 19:54:17 from 98.165.228.80

The front pockets can hold a hike's worth of candy, my camera, and 6-8 shotgun shells. It's really become my favorite pack. But I'm still not running ultras until they let all the good guys race each other and do away w/ the lottery nonsense :-)

From Jon on Fri, Dec 28, 2012 at 19:59:47 from 107.203.52.135

Do I want to know why you carry shotgun shells?

Most ultras don't have lotteries, if it makes a difference. There are a few here in SC that I would propose we use as elite races, if you want to come. Since they are in the heat of summer, it improves my odds!

I wore it earlier this week when we went trap shooting. I don't typically carry ammo... Haha

Oh and regarding the ultra/lottery... It doesn't make a difference. I'm happy to stick to the roads :-)

From Jon on Fri, Dec 28, 2012 at 20:04:54 from 107.203.52.135

That's probably for the better as I don't want you whupping up on us slow ultra guys.

Great miles and gorgeous pictures!

Jake, do you still want to do a group run on New Year's Day? I'm still game. I'm flexible with time and place. My only request is no snow and no ice. Some of the other guys down here are interested as well. If you are not planning on it, no big deal -- we'll hook up soon.

From Jake K on Fri, Dec 28, 2012 at 20:20:38 from 98.165.228.80

Jon - you don't want me in the trail peloton. My comments would be too snarky :-)

Matt - YES, I am planning 2 more harder workouts down here and then 22-24 on new years day. I'm good w/ whatever you guys want to do. I won't be back until Monday night, so whatever you think is best in terms of somewhere dry/safe to run.

From Matt Poulsen on Fri, Dec 28, 2012 at 22:03:45 from 98.202.242.213

Sounds great Jake. 22-24 Sounds perfect to me. I'm out of town tomorrow, but I can help make arrangements Sunday or Monday. I just sent a text to Fritz, Scott, Mike, Brandon, and Dan. I asked if they have an ideas, and if so, to get the ball rolling (Facebook, etc.) We'll talk soon. Have a great rest of your trip!

It's going to be a long time before we see any exposed trails around here!

Thanks for the Fro Yo!
