AM - 12.1 miles up to work via Tanner Park / Parley's Trail. I'm already having mountain withdrawal so I think I subconsciously picked the hilliest route possible. Thank goodness for Alta Wednesday because Friday seems sooooooo far away right now.

PM - 8.8 miles home.

5K heats are tonight. Runner's World posted a fantastic profile on Alan Webb this morning. His career has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. I'm really hoping he can make the finals and even though he'll be a long shot, at least get a chance to make the team.

Nice miles today. I probably should know this. Do you do tris or Iron Mans?

Sorry to hear about the loss of your camera yesterday. 100 pictures gone. But I am sure you will have many more similar experiences. You’re right – the pics are more valuable than the camera. I am reminded of the one picture you shared – of you that was taken by the guy who lost his life in the avalanche. The pics from Sunday were awesome. I have just got to find some peaks!!! I once suggested to Scott Wesemann that he write a book with all the pictures he has taken. I would say the same to you. You are an elite athlete with awesome pictures. I’d buy the book! Probably so would a lot of other people. Consider that. You might turn more people on to running that way. And those peaks and the company – so much more than running.

Hope all is well.

Thanks PRE! That's a big reason why I do the Wasatch & Beyond blog. I hope people who see the photos get inspired to get outside and live it up to their fullest potential. I know that I have read lots of books and blogs that have lit the fire for me... I want to pay that forward a little bit.

No tris or ironmen. I can swim well enough to not drown, but that is about it. And biking for too long hurts my butt :-) I'll stick to running races! At some point I would like to try a ski mountaineering race, though.

Oh - the reason I asked about the tris/ironman was because I noticed the running, swimming and bike miles in the heading at the top of your page.

I forgot that "wasatch and beyond" picture with the mountains in the left hand margin was a link to your other blog. I had visited that site a couple times. Just revisited it. Dang, Allie needs to post more pictures of herself on her blog! She is married! I read about it on her site and the pictures on your site helps to bring home what a great day that was.

And here I thought this runningblog site had awesome pics!

I'm still not sure how I ended up with the triathlon blog format... haha. I must have clicked it by accident when I signed up, and then by the time I realized it... it was too late to switch it. Ah well. My running miles make up for my zero swimming and biking miles. I do bike occasionally, but never end up logging the workout.

Does not breaking 14 min and coming in 2nd to last count as an up or down on Alan's roller coaster?

From Jake K on Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 08:26:31 from 155.100.226.54

That would be the roller coaster coming off the tracks and crashing into the ground. I feel bad for him - he was legitimately heartbroken, tears in his eyes while getting interviewed afterwards. I give him all the credit in the world for giving it a shot, even though it was such a major longshot.
