AM - 10 miles up to work, easy pace.

PM - 10 miles home.

January roundup - 589 miles run, 3050 perfect pushups, 610 perfect pullups (more pullups than miles!), averaged 8.5 hours of sleep per night, and drove my car to work 4 times. Good start to the year.

Jake, just because it would be awesome - I would almost be tempted to run a long one tonight and hit 600 for the month if I were you!

You consistently amaze!

You know, it would be tempting if I wasn't trying to be smart about things :-) If only they added the extra leap year day to January, I'd have it easily!

i just posted about my second highest mileage month ever. it's not even half of your total. wah...wah...

unbelievable.

From Rachelle on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 11:27:54 from 199.190.170.28

Dang Jake that is impressive. I don't think I could even do 1 pullup. I better work on that. :)

I really appreciate your input, Jake. I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you that you are held in high esteem on the blog. I have tried something new with every marathon I've run (4), but with the exception of Boston '10 they left a lot to be desired and my fitness was defnitely not there. I've always been curious to see what I was capable of given the ideal conditions and perfect training module. Em is seriously kicking my tail out there, but I feel like I could be setting myself up for a PR.

Melody - chasing Emily around the track once a week is going to pay some big dividends for you. She's a 2:47 marathoner - if you are right behind her on workouts, I'd say you're in great shape!

Awesome miles this month and pullups! Are your lats getting huge?

From Jake K on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 13:49:03 from 155.100.226.54

Yep - here is a self-portrait I took last night: http://www.criticalbench.com/images/isolate-lat-muscle1.jpg

Time to update your profile pic!

Awesome job!!! I have run a small amount of miles, 0 perfect pushups, 0 perfect pullups and I've driven my car every day of the month.

You are definitely an inspiration and you really put things in perspective.

I don't know you Jake but you are insanely inspiring. What a start to 2012!

From MarkP on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 23:25:45 from 72.254.52.5

Talk to me once you hit 11.5 hour of sleep per night, then we can rumble...zzzzz.

Honestly, inspiring stuff.

An amazing start to the year. Very inspiring. By the way, that was me who said hi this morning near the ER entrance. I was headed between labs...

Crazy awesome month. I knew those old boys use to log a lot of mileage but I didn't know it was that much. Crazy how much they use to run and how good they were with junk for shoes and just a stopwatch basically to train with.

From Jake K on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 10:34:05 from 155.100.226.54

Thanks guys - just don't expect any 600+ mile months, ok? :-)

Adam - I knew that was you, as bad as my long distance eyesight is! Who else would be wandering around that part of campus before 8am?

Clyde - I wonder how accurate their mileage was back in those days before GMap and Garmins, etc.? Close enough, obviously, but it still makes me curious.

From jtshad on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 10:34:14 from 204.134.132.225

All I can say is...wow! That is an impressive month...even more so for January in Utah! You are going to have a rockin' year.

I am most evnvious of the 8.5 hours of sleep!

From Jake K on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 10:35:20 from 155.100.226.54

Jeff - the sleep is what makes it all possible! I really couldn't do it all if I didn't get the rest that I do.

From Lulu Walls on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 13:48:25 from 155.100.212.98

Holy crazy start to the year! Pretty impressed with the lack of driving thing...

From Dorsimus on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 20:58:05 from 67.2.26.13

Wow - you continue to impress and inspire. Thanks for sharing. Great start to the year!!
