It was warmer today (48) with light wind so went on a bicycle ride with some friends.  We rode up to Fort Harrison park and went around the loop to get in some hill work.  I was feeling good and worked the hills hard.  On the way back out of the park. I was following one of the other guys when we were about to go back on the road and there was a pole in the middle of the path to keep cars off of the path.  I didn't see the pole and hit it with my peddle.  It threw me over the handlebars and landed pretty hard.  I hit on my left side knee and elbow and also stuck out my right hand which dislocated my thumb.  When I got up had to put my thumb back in place but other than that wasn't in too bad of shape.  After walking around a little I was able to ride back to the house.  My hand was really sore and swelled up pretty bad.  All in all I feel luckily that it wasn't worse. My knee is still sore and tight so not sure if I will be able to run tomorrow.  The hand should get back to normal after a few miles.  I did get in 25 miles and some good hills during the experience.

Wow, I hate it when those poles jump out of nowhere and get you! jk...hope you are ok and recover quickly from the thumb issue and scrapes.

Sounds like a fun time around Fort Harrision...it was really beautiful up there when I ran through the park, nice to sometime like that close by.

Thanks Jeff. Yes, it is about the best place around for me to run/ride. It was a stupid accident. I was following the other rider too close so didn't have time to make adjustments. Feeling the soreness a lot more today but should be able to run today since most of the damage is upper body. How's everything with you? Any races coming up soon?

Things are good here in Idaho. Busy with work, family, church, running but couldn't be more blessed...thanks for asking, and you?

As far as races, next goal race is Utah Valley marathon in June. Like do some local 10k's and maybe a half if I can find a close one. Maybe a new local marathon in May as a training run if they can get the details and course laid out right.

Hope all is well with you. Take care and stay in touch.

Glad to hear that you and the family are doing good. Sounds like you have a busy running schedule but I am sure you will do great as usual.

All is good with me and my family. My running is horrible because of this lingering achilles injury. Seems to finally be getting better. I am thinking of just doing some fun races and maybe some bike rides this year to slowly transition back to full running. Hopefully I will stay healthy and keep from hitting the pavement. Ha
