Rode bike 5 miles to track, did a little fast running, rode home.

Soft surface track, inside lanes are soft with ankle twisters on curves, so ran in what probably would be 3rd lane.  I am definately not good at speed work & don't really enjoy it ... but a little is better than none.

Ran 400 meter recoveries in about 2:00 each, then did a short cool down

4 x 400:  1:22, 1:25, 1:30, 1:28

Did not have a target pace & never looked at watch while running them.

Planned on doing more, but it was hot!  It is what it is!  The bike ride was nice!  :)

Hey we all know heat drains! Little is better than none... I didn't have a target either, just ran hard

I'm supprised you don't like the track workouts...as fast as you are! I think I'm going to do more track work this summer.

Nice job, well no secret here that I am a big proponent of the fast stuff, whether on a track or fartleks on the road. You know, how they used to run before tracks were so common. ;-)

I have a running buddy that is going up to Poconos this year. Any tips that I should pass along?

Dan, I am cool with doing a little on the track ... but more tnan 4 repeats is pushing the limits! lol

Preston, I prefer 40 yard sprints chasing a ball ... any type of speed work helps.

David, I much prefer fartleks to track work! I have never run Poconos, so not much advice hear ... although I have heard there are a few uphills from 18 to 23ish ... so people say conserve early on the downhills. Not sure I agree with that philosophy, I like to take what a course gives you ... as pacer I am supposed to run even splits ... but we will be banking a little time from Mile 6-10, the biggest downhill.
