I awoke to the excrutiating pain of a severe calf cramp in my right leg. I am concerned! am supposed to run 10 today.... heading to Spin class now instead.

 Update:  Took an epson salt soak & a friend recommended I take some Endurolyte capsule by hammer ... anyone tried them?  Interesting article:

Anyway, took 3, and ran my 10 miles ... without any problems.  Will stay on a steady diet of these thru the marathon, if there are no other effects.  Taking 2 more now & going to bed!

Hopefully no cause for concern if it's just a cramp...although those calf cramps can be so painful when they really seize up. I can still remember my first one in high school - ouch! Any soreness now?

The only time I have had a calf cramp wake me up in the middle of the night is if I was pregnant. ha! I am sure that isn't your problem. ;)

What are you in taper for? What is your next run? Looking back at your time and miles....you are in great shape. It should be a good run for you.

Those craps and VERY painful. Just easy back into it and make sure you are not dehydrated.

It is a mystery to me why this happened with reduced mileage and cooler weather! Not sure if there is cause for concern, but it definitely set some alarms off! Updated post, trying a supplement, and got my 10 miles in without any issue.

Steam, my marathon is in 13 days, downhill in NC mtns. Today was my last double digit run.
