Personal:

My mother forced me to start running as a freshman in high school.. and as much as I hate to admit it, I actually ended up liking it. Graduated from Pine View High School in 2013 and, after a yearlong hiatus, I am now running again, this time for USU, where I'm working on a composite Elementary Ed/Deaf Ed major.

Am: last morning practice with all the girls! *tear*

Pm: Had the 800 and the 4x4 today. Warmed up for the 8 with Stoner and Mia and Liz. Felt ready to run.

The start was absolutely awful. I accidentally stepped on a girl's foot, and she shoved me back and I was stuck in the back of the pack for the first 100 meters. After the turn, I got out into the 4th lane and got into position.. but it was really weird, cause Aimee was pacing her teammate and so I was running right with her. We came through the first lap at 1:14.. way slow. But then all of a sudden a cedar girl and two hurricane girls passed me.. and I just died. An SC girl passed me too before the finish.

Pretty frustrated with this race. I never really even considered that I wouldn't place top 4 here, because I knew I could do it. I ran a 2:24 just yesterday. I don't know why I can do it in the relays, then struggle so bad in the open races. But that was my last chance to qualify in the open 8 and I blew it, so I guess I won't be running it anymore. Pretty disappointing.

Then the 4x4. We struggled a bit the first two legs, and when I got the baton we were in last. I passed a few girls, maybe 2 or 3. We ended up finishing in 5th or 6th I think. My split was a 1:03.6. Almost as good as BYU.

Welp. I'm done with region races forever.. and my streak of always getting a medal at region that started my freshman year of xc has been broken. Lame. Ready for state though. I just have the medley and the 4x4, so I'll be able to focus just on those and do well in them.
