| First run of 2016. I tweaked my back at the wAIRhouse jumping too high. I was afraid to make it worse and rested a few days despite my plans to become a perfect person starting January 1.
I ran three nice and easy on the treadmill and it didn't seem to worsen. I believe I am ok going forward. I am having minor nagging back troubles (also correlated to my SI joint) for the first time in my life. I've always feared back injuries.

| City creek run from home at noon. I wanted to go 10 but wanted to also monitor my body. I felt strong going up but I did feel like I started working in the 5th mile. I turned at 5 and made my way down at about a 7 minute pace. I decided to see how 6 felt down memory grove and it was ok but then I was tired. I wasn't working in the last two but my legs had no pop left. Warm day. I wore long sleeves and 3/4 tights but should've worn t and shorts. 76 minutes

| No kids, so I ran with my wife above my office. She had never been on the BST trails. It was cold, windy and slighlty rainy and that is a combination for complaints with her. She was complaining pretty good at 1.75 miles but after we turned around and she saw HCI, she reminded herself how wonderful it is to be healthy and running. That flip of a switch made for an enjoyable final stretch where we tacked on red butte canyon and some other high trails. Lovely run overall even if the pace was 12:30s.

| At lunch, I ran north along the BST up Red Butte Canyon. I then decided to explore a trail going up the mountain which resulted in me walking for a bit. The I decided I'd better cut back and I took one of those steep face of the hill trails down where when people see you on it, they are like, "What the hell is that guy doing?" So yeah, I felt stupid. That and my legs were super gassed with the climing and then the super steep descent. Stats after I get home but it took me a good 72 minutes total.
Required day off tomorrow.

| Got up early on a Saturday (late for James) to run with James to Dude Peak. I set my alarm and left it downstairs. Luckily my internal clock new what was up and I woke up right in time. The dude is 10 miles round trip with 2300 ft of climb and fantastic views of Salt Lake above city creek. This is not a well used trail beyond the first mile and you would need a guide or a good plan. It is also steep enough in spots that no bikers would do it - at least from the starting place we were at. James's youngest had a feaver so he was on call and after 3.3, we had to turn back. Still a nice run and a beautiful morning. I will have to get to the peak next time and abide.

| Fritz came by and picked me up at my place. We ran around Sugar House park and along 15th. Then a little jaunt in my hood. I didn't have a phone or watch but according to Fritz's Strava it was about 6.2 in about 47:30 for about a 7:40 pace. I was huffing a bit on the uphill, but I feel marginally stronger now with a little momentum.
