Mark and I have been wanting to run/hike Timp for quite a while now. He's done it several times, in fact he just did it last week. So, we both took work off today and went for it. Started at Aspen Grove around 7:00 AM. It was cold. Ran as much as we could on the way up (we didn't run much) and then ran most of the way down. It warmed up as we went along. Made it up to the saddle which was about 6.5. Took us just under 3 hours to get there, but we stopped and took quite a few pictures. Way down was much funner and we also stopped quite a bit. Overall, took us around 4 1/2 hours or so. I don't really have much desire to get to the summit. I don't do well with some of the steep, unsteady sections that we had to go up and down just to make it to the saddle. Overall, I'm glad we did it. Really cool view at the top and saw lots of cool scenery all along the way. Ran two more miles down the main road once we got back to the car. |
