Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

We left St. George at 5am and made the long drive home arriving at just past noon.  That worked great getting up early!  I felt good during the drive with just some minor stiffness.

Got home and the kids needed to get in their runs, so Justin took off with a friend and Katelyn, Kami and I headed to the park so Katelyn could run.  She asked me to run part of it with her so I did an easy mile with her (stiff the entire time).  We walked back home and I suddenly started feeling bad.

Early in the evening I completely shut down...everything hurt, I was light headed and feeling like I had the flu.  Went to bed around 8pm and crashed hard.  Never had that happen, especially after feeling so good to that point after the race Saturday.

Feeling very blessed by God as I look back on the marathons this year...3 sub 2:40 races with an average finishing time of 2:36:56!  First time ever having that many fast races in one year.

I felt much better when I woke up but the DOMS has really hit.  Going to be a few days before running again (especially with the work schedule this week).

Still too sore and stiff for an early run.  Maybe tonight after work or I will try tomorrow morning.  Busy work days for the next three days!

4am...4 easy miles with Moxie along Sunnyside.  The eclipse was really cool! (Boost)

2.35 miles on the greenbelt with a couple of my customer visitors at work on a nice afternoon.  A long day of meetings (6:00am - 9:30pm) then picked up my parents at the airport at 11:30pm.  I am tired!  (Fastwitch Red)

No morning run, too tired.

5 miles after another long day of meetings in the later afternoon.  Beautiful out...slow and easy around the river.  Still very tired.  (Mirage Red)

I slept in today to catch up on sleep and went out for a run after dropping the kids off at school.  7 miles through SRL with a stop to chat with the boys at the running store.   Nice and easy pace, legs are getting better but still not fully back yet.  Afterwards some yardwork before having to go in to eat as we were starving!   (Ride 3)

Kids running in Rexburg today, hope to see them continue to improve!

6:15am...met at the running store for the group run.  Ran with Gray, Craig, Lynette (3 miles), Marlin (4 miles) on the greenbelt up to Freeman Park and back to Sunnyside then through SRL to the store.  9 miles in 1:08.

Got home and went out with the entire family.  Kami, Katelyn and Moxie dropped off (running fast!) and Justin and I finished an easy 10K having a great time talking.  That was fun!  (Fastwitch Red)
