Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

4:15am...6 easy miles along Sunnyside with Moxie on a very nice morning.  (Boost)

5 miles at lunch in 39:45.  Beautfiul day but I felt like crap...headache, no energy...feels like a headcold.  Barely made it back, I will see what the next few days hold. (Mirage Red)

Got a call from St. George Leisure services confirming my plans to run and with the specifics for the elite tables, etc.  Getting closer!

Skipped my morning run...just too tired.  Will get in a lunch run and maybe something after work.

Nice day for a run at lunch. I wanted to do some tempo and tried a 3Mx2...legs were still a little loaded up.  I ran 1 mile warmup then into a 3 miles (6:20-6:11).  1 mile easy with a stop for a drink then 2M...slower (6:32, 6:35) then a 1 mile cooldown.  Not what I wanted but ok based on how I have been feeling the last couple of days.  8 miles in 53:40 (6:42 AP).

3.25 miles in the heat right after work.  25:38 minutes around the neighborhood before dinner.  (Bikila)

I feel horrible today (headache, body aches) so I am staying home to rest up and no run.  Also, getting stuff ready for the kids some boxes fell on my head this morning...headache worse and cuts/scraps on my forehead and nose.  I am going back to bed....slept pretty much the whole day.

4:30am...5 easy untimed miles with Moxie on a very warm morning.  Feeling about 80% better than yesterday.  (Ride 3)

A beautiful day for a run at lunch.  Started off slow as I still was not feeling it but started feeling better as the run went on and ended up doing a progession run, last 2 miles 6:50, 6:45.  Total of 7 miles in 51 minutes.  (Mirage Red)

6am...4 easy miles with Moxie before the kids got up.  After getting the kids ready and taking them to school, I went back out around 8:30am for a 7 mile run through SRL and back in 51:45.  Just nice and easy to save my legs for the half marathon tomorrow.  Once again, I got yelled at by a driver in SRL that I need to use the sidewalk to run...too hard for him to move over a lane on a 4 lane divided road...Idaho does have the ruddest drivers in America! (Ride 3)

Excited about the kids XC races today...Katelyn 2 mile race in Rigby and Justin at a race in Pocatello.   Had a real God moment today.   During the time Justin was running I was praying for Jesus to give him strength and confidence.  During my prayer, I felt and heard God tell me that it was ok, He was taking care of Justin and Katelyn and don't worry!  Hearing the voice of Jesus is a powerful memory and moment in my life.  Knowing that he is taking care of my kids...endless joy!

I ran in the Shelley Spud Run Half Marathon on a beautiful morning!  Craig Hudman is the RD and does a great job on this small race.  1M warmup then into the race. I ran solo for the whole race so this was mostly a MP tempo run.  Good hill in miles 5 and 6, gravel road in my 7, headwind in mile 11 plus loss of focus on keeping my pace solid on this nearly pancake flat course.  Cruised in for the win, racing the top 5K guys as I came back into town helped with the motivation so I sped up for the last 0.5 mile or so.  Fun time this morning, wish I would have stayed more focused to run closer to 6:00 AP.  Ran a bit of a cool down (2M) and some (1M) with Saige.
