Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;
answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me. - Psalm 86:1-7 Favorite Blogs: |

| 7 easy recovery miles with Moxie before church on a warmish and very humid morning (left over moisture from the huge rain storm last night) in 53 minutes. Legs felt good, just wanted to go easy. I will try to get in some decent miles this week before the half marathon on Saturday where I will try to go 1:15 or faster. |

4:30am...7 honest effort miles with Moxie through SRL and back with and extension down Sunnyside. A good untimed run. (Ride)
10K at lunch in 45:30. I started off in cool weather and a light rain and ended in warm and humid conditions. My right achilles was a bit tight during the run. (Cortana)
1 mile with Justin in 8:00 after taking Kami out for her birthday dinner. Fun to run with my son! (Bikila) |

| 4:30am....easy untimed 10k with Moxie this morning. It was very hard getting up (didn't sleep well), I was sore and tired, it was really warm (71 degrees at 4:30am!) and I was fighting off a need for a pitstop for most of the run. Good to get all of this out of the way so I am fresh for tomorrow's race (I wish it really worked this way). (Ride) |

I ran the inagural IF Half marathon today with lots of friends in 1:14:58 for the win and a new PR. Overall a good race (good organization, length accurate, good support) and a course that will eat you up the first half and make you pay in the second.
We went out hard from the start on the steppest part of the course. UVU/Runners Corner guy named Derek, Trevor, Chas and myself. By mile 2 we dropped Chas; at mile 3 dropped Trevor (his first HM), then at mile 4 I dropped Derek (who later dropped out at mile 6). Ran through mile 5 in right 25:30 minutes (25 minutes at the 'official' marker), then kept the pace sub 6:00 for the next 2 miles. My hips started to rebel from the elevation drop and hard effort, so the last 6 miles slipped into the 6's and each successive mile my hips started to tighten more, but I just pushed with what I had to stay ahead of the chase group.
Overall fairly happy with the result (PR) but feel the effort last weekend on that course was a better time (versus the profile). The hill is hard enough to run at race pace, let alone try to do another 7 miles on pancake flat to finish up the race.
Splits: 4:53, 4:55, 5:08, 5:20, 5:14, 5:39, 5:54, 6:08, 6:10, 6:19, 6:19, 6:23, 6:19, 0:19 (5:09).
Congrats to Trevor (2nd place, 1:18 first HM), Lynette (1st woman, new PR!), Austin, Alana, Craig, Eric and Rocky, etc.
I had to bolt from the finish line early to get to my kids swim meet...both Justin and Katelyn are becoming awesome swimmers and did well (winning most of their heats/events). |
