Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

A beautiful morning for a run, so I decided to tackle Sunnyside Hill to try and make up for yesterday's crappy race.  1 mile warmup then 5 miles up and over Sunnyside Hill and back down the other side about 1 mile and then returned back down to the truck with a cooldown mile.  Up to the top (5 miles uphill in 39 minutes) then back down at a slow 5:40 average pace.  Total time of 1:46:50.  Now off to spend time with the family and do a few chores around the house!

A nice morning for a run with a strong wind out of the south.  3M easy to the high school track then I did 6x1200 with 400 recovery.  Legs tired from the effort yesterday, so pretty slow but I took advantage of the day off to get them in. Splits: 4:22, 4:24, 4:33, 4:33, 4:36, 4:23.  I ran home 4M easy effort to finish off the run in 1:30:28.  More time with the family and doing some chores for the rest of the day.

4:30am...6M very slow recovery.  I am really tired after the efforts on Sat-Mon along with all the yard/house work.  The next couple of days will be very easy days.  (Defyance)

6M easy at lunch with Dan on an absolutely beautiful day.  Slow and easy with good conversation.  We picked up Pat at about 4M and had a nice chat all the way back to the office.  Total time of 46:40.  (Ride 2010)

7M really easy again this morning as I am still sore and tired from the weekend's efforts.  It was pretty cool this morning, especially for early July!  (Defyance)

I stayed home today since my daughter had a medical appointment that required someone to watch over her.  Since my wife had deadlines at work, I stayed with her.  I got out for a late afternoon run in great weather...75 degrees and a light wind.  I ran a 6M MP run through SRL and back in 38:14 which felt very controlled and easy, which is surprising to how fatigued my legs are this week.  (Ride 2010)

No run, but lots of hiking and walking on a full day in Yellowstone National Park.  We visited and hiked at Firehole Basin, Fountain Paint Pots, Old Faithful, West Thumb and Lake Lodge.

Another full day in the park hiking and taking in the sites.  This time we did the northern loop and visited Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Falls and the Canyon area.  All told I am going to take credit for 6 miles over the past 2 days.
