Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Kept waking up early so I ended up getting to the gym early (4:15ish) but had a really hard time getting into the run...almost gave up in the first mile or two.  Finally started waking up around 3 miles then kicked the pace up to MP for miles 4-8 to finish with an average pace of 6:35/mi.  No other runners this morning, kinda a bummer...only the cocky weightlifters whom I regular humble on the TM because the think they are the @#$% and keep laughing and looking over at me as I am pounding out sub 6:30 miles.  They always head to the opposite side of the TM bank to warmup to stay away from me.  Go pump yourself fellas!  As least I didn't have to battle for a TM under the fans with the fat walking lady! (Launch)

6 miles outside on slushy, sloppy roads and pathways in 46:50.  The temps were good and wind wasn't even bad, just slushy...my toes were squishing around inside my shoes at the end of the run!  (Ride Red)

A quick review of my my running stats (for my own validation) since I started training for marathons and really tracking mileage in 2005:

Mileage 2005-2006:   3,878 miles

Mileage 2007-2009: 10,430 miles  (2963-'07, 3706-'08, 3760-'09)

Mileage to date 2010: 3,638 miles

total:                         17,946 miles

Prior to 2005, I didn't track mileage and ran at most 3 times a week for about 2-5M each time for the previous 5 years (2000-2004) as I was more focused on weight lifting at tennis in this period.  Estimate that I ran about 3,000 miles total prior to making running my central athletic focus in 2005.

So, I am nearing 21,000 miles of running since I started in 2000!

I know it is painful for you to be indoors. :)

I have actually been enjoying the TM more this winter than I can remember previously. Just too windy and snowy outside today and I didn't feel like bundling up. I (like emruns) am just a bit cranky today and am annoyed by some of the folks at the gym and had to get it out!

Ahh weight lifters...the only reason they are at the gym is to be seen. Weather in Idaho should make anyone cranky!

Looks like your extended warranty is about to expire.

Coming from an ex-meathead turned runner, running sub 6:00's is way cooler than benching 240.

Impressive mileage report!! Soggy shoes is my least favorite!

I'm detecting some hostility towards weightlifters. Something from your childhood perhaps? I'm willing to listen if you need to talk to someone about this.

Loving the stats! :)

Okay ... so here's my question, I am not trying to be critical, just an honest question: It can't be comfortable to walk around all day unable to put your arms down can it?

Sometimes I watch the diehard lifters at my gym. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of rock solid abs and a nice set up biceps, but I just don't get it when they appear to have no neck and can't put their arms down. Hmmmm ... but then again, maybe it's just because it's not my thing!

Here's to 21,000 and MANY MANY more!!!

You are AWESOME!!!!

Rob, I have nothing against weightlifters...I used to be one myself before taking up running. It is just these particular a-h's that bother me. They are just too cocky and full of themselves and seem to look down on everyone in the gym in the morning...and they aren't even that big or buff! The one guy in particular has walked away from me several times with his tail between his legs after trying to run next to me...that is why he always take the TM on the opposite side of the room now. I don't go over to them on the bench and laugh as the try to max a lift!

I too am amused by the meat head types at my gym - guzzling their Full Throttle or Red Bull. You know, when I was in the Army, we small, thin, endurance athlete types used to smoke the big, muscular weightlifter type guys in every measure of practical fitness.
