Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

6.25M on the TM at the gym again this morning.  Easy pace (6:35ish) for the first 3M, then bumped up to slow MP (6:25ish) for the remainder of the run.  Nothing special, would have gone longer but needed to get home so Kami could head to the gym.  Will try to get a lunch run in depending on meetings.  (Stratos 1)

No run at lunch due to meetings and frigid -2 degree weather.  We did run is this type of weather last year and it was a mistake I didn't want to repeat.

Went back to the Doc and had the wart on my foot frozen again as the first treatment didn't finish it off.  This time it is stinging afterwards and it is kinda painful to walk in barefeet.

You continue to amaze. I'm glad that there are still some of us out there training at a good level! I hope all is going well.

From jtshad on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 15:44:51

Thanks, I hope all is well with you and your family. I hope that work and the grant stuff is going ok. How is your health?

Are you sticking around for Christmas? Hope it is a blessed holiday for you.

From Jon on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 15:55:11

Why was it a mistake?

From jtshad on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 15:57:37

Because it was too damn cold. Dan froze the tip of his nose and we both nearly froze the rest of our bodies as well.

Now you've got me worried for my Sat morning run this week, with a -2 low.

From Adam RW on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 16:11:06

Maybe it is not a bad thing that I'm doing most of my runs on a treadmill lately...

My health is ok. My knee still bugs me and has me hesitent about going back up on the mileage. However, right now I don't think my schedule would fit extra mileage. The grants are going well and I got some great feedback last week. Thanks for asking.

No traveling this Christmas. It will be the first time in 31 years that I'm not going to see my extended family on Christmas. However, it will be the first time I get to spend Christmas morning at home with "my" family.

From Lucia on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 16:45:56

Glad to see your leg feels better, you got me worried there for a bit! I hate the treadmill but -2 doesn't sound like much fun either... What's your next race?

From jtshad on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 09:51:11

Thanks for the concern Lucia. How is you health, how is the jaw?

My next race is going to be the Walt Disneyworld Marathon on Jan. 11. We are surprising the kids for Christmas with a trip to WDW and the best (and cheapest) time to go happened to be the same weekend as the marathon (no kidding, it was $400 cheaper for that weekend than the next weekend which is a holiday weekend, even with 13,000 people running the race). I hope to be in the top 5/10 and hope to be able to win the Master's group.

So will you be in a taper next week, so I can actually keep up with you?
