Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

7M early this morning in 25 degree weather.  Ran down Sunnyside then ran over to Sports Authority to see how many people were in line for the Bonus Bucks...too many to snag one of the free gift cards so I kept going and ran home.  Total time of 53:40.   Off to work for a few hours then back home to spend time with in-laws and family.  (Trigon)

6.1M at lunchtime with Dan S around the greenbelt in 7:28 average pace which was nice and relaxed.  I think we were about the only 2 people at work today!  (Progrid)

When did you change your blog title?

That is one of my favorite running quotes.

Changed it last week, reread "Once A Runner" and after a long hard year it just seemed to feel right!

Great job on the race yesterday! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving with the family as well.

I just finished Return to Carthage, the sequel to Once a Runner. Ever read it?

Not yet, I have been trying to get a copy for about a year (on my Christmas list again). If I don't get it this year, I am just going to order it with some gift cards I have. Is it any good? More of a story about my current situation (older with kids and other life pressures) as I understand it.

Jon, I got a copy for my birthday last year. I enjoyed it. Jeff, I agree with what you've heard about it. I read Once a Runner while running in college and Again to Carthage after the birth of my second daughter and though I think the writing in the first is better it was perfect timing on both. Jon, what did you think of it? Jeff, if you can't get a hold of a copy maybe we could work out a way to get you mine.

I read Cody's copy.

I like the first better, but Carthage is also excellent. No wife/kids, but he is older and has a job, and he is training for a marathon, so those are applicable. You should definitely read it, Jeff.
