Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Nice and easy 8M on a nice morning...46 degrees and no wind.  Started off thinking 6M was all I was going to get due to some soreness and not being awake, but by 3M in I was feeling pretty good and the pace was picking up so I pushed the route out and finished 8 miles.  Last 4M were about 20 secs per mile faster than the first.

Stratos 2 - 146 miles

Wow, what a beautiful day for a run.  Had planned 6M, but due to the weather got in 7M.  Kinda a fartlek run with part of evey mile fast, part easy and then mostly alternated MP and easy pace miles.  Splits:  6:49; 6:20; 6:38; 6:23; 6:24; 6:30; 6:47.  Overall a great run (no nature stops!!  Had a bagel, cream cheese and homemade plum jam for breakfast today instead of my usual big bowl of cereal and milk).  Maybe I am developing an issue with dairy?

Also, I got 7.5 hours of workouts on my Forerunner this past time, that even off of less than a full charge.  Maybe the unit was just getting angry for a couple of weeks and now is maybe closer to normal!

Hey Jeff. I sometimes get intestinal issues if I eat high fiber cereals like shredded wheat day in and day out for breakfast. I now incorporate more eggs, meat, cheese, and white bread on some mornings, but continue to drink milk. I don't have as many problems since adding that change. Adding more speedwork brings it on for me as well. Later.

Great double runs today and nice brisk pace.

Jeff - it could be the high fiber. What type of cereal do you eat in the mornings?

The high fiber although is good for the muscle. I usually rotate and eat a big bowl of oatmeal or cereal (Smart Start cereal mostly).

I usually charge my 205 Garmin Forerunner every other day. I know that mine has never lasted for the 10 hour duration like they say when I first got it.

If no bathroom breaks are the definition of a good run, then I guess most my runs stink...

I usually never have a bathroom stop in the mornings or on any of my runs even past 10 miles. I make sure I'm go to go before than.

It is not so much the need for the stops (though in a race, especially a big race, I don't want to have to stop for these types of issues) but the sudden appearance during the run with no other changes in diet or routine that had me stumped. My morning runs are usually the ones that I have more issues with (due mainly to still trying the wake my whole system up so early!), not the lunch runs as I have 'cleaned the pipes' by then (or so I thought).

sorry to hear of the bad belly... cream cheese is technically dairy - so it may not be that. Maybe the fiber in the cereal, or the fact that it is so easily digested vs. a bagel. Anyway, even with the all the stops, you are still such a rockstar. :o) Hope it all works out!
