Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5 very easy miles early on a nice morning.  My lower back was a bit stiff for the first 3.5 miles then loosened up in time for me to rush home before a pit stop.  I may do another run at lunch depending on time and desire.  (Defyance)

3.1 easy miles on a beautiful day at lunch, more as a stress reliever than training.  Gave thanks for the blessing in my life and just pondered more about life after talking more with Kory today.  He is doing well, still in ICU and HUNGRY!!!.  He is an inspiration and I will be using him as my motivation for Mesa Falls this weekend.  (Ride Black)

Hi Jeff,

I was suprised to read you started running in 2005, that is the same year I began to run. I was a wrestler and all through childhood and wrestled Div-1 in college. I thought this running thing would be cake but its not, there is a lot to learn. I am 2 years older than you but no where near your ability. I am very impressed with your acomplishments in such a short time. Can you tell me a little more about your back ground....did you run in H.S.? or what sports did you play?

Hey Royce, no I didn't run in HS or college. I was a tennis player and weightlifter and switched to running as my primary interest in 2005/2006. Love the running community, the challenge, the flexibility and the sense of accomplishment and ability to give back to those with the same interest. Haven't played tennis in years though I still follow it. I feel that by picking up running later and focusing on proper mechanics I have been able to succeed and have some more years in these old legs!

Keep it up, the learning is part of what makes it fun and a challenge! Write any time to talk running!

Good luck at Mesa Falls. Even though you always do great! I liked your last post to Royce. I'm just now figuring out that if I can keep the turn over with my feet my pace and breathing will take care of them selve's. I'm a slow learner at times.
