Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Slept in a bit this morning since I was so tired yesterday.  Got out at about 5am for 5.1M easy this morning around the neigborhood as Sunnyside was freshly chipsealed and it was dusty and smelled like tar.  Real easy 7:45 pace as my left glute (or Priformis) is a bit sore this morning...nothing really bad but I sure can feel it.  Feels better when I run but I don't have back or leg pain with it.

Plan on registering for the Firecracker 5K today which is a race right down the parade route just before the parade on the 4th.  I will see if I can keep up with/hold off Ken Richardson this year (assuming he shows up which I expect).

total time: 39:29  (Trigon 2 - 44 miles)

7M at lunch on a warm and windy day, not a bad day for a run.  Was planning on going a bit faster again today but 0.5M into the run I was stung by a bee right under my right arm!  It stung like a bugger for the next 3M and I felt it the whole time.  I didn't have a bad reaction, but it wasn't the best start to a run and through me off my groove.

total time: 47:09  (Trigon 1 - 354 miles)

Are you doing the 5k rather then the Kelly Canyon race?

From jtshad on Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 10:11:11

I will do both if you come up!

Its good to see you get some sleep. 6 hour man. Good job with the training coming off of Wasatch Back.

From Jon on Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 16:01:47

Man, you and Dustin both in one week! Watch out for stings!

From Dustin on Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 16:07:33

Dude! I was just coming to comment on what a great race you ran at Wasatch Back.

And I see you got stung by a bee, you'll have to check out my pictures on my blog. I got stung by a yellow jacket, no fun.

Anyway, was fun seeing you this past weekend. You seem to be in great shape as usual. Hope your training keeps going good through the summer.

Yeah, I just looked at your pics...nasty. I hope my side doesn't do that!

Great job to you at WBR as well. It was a pleasure seeing you again.

Ouch! That takes your focus off your legs . I bet trying to fight the the sting for a bit wasn't fun. Great run though and even going as far as you did.
