Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

4M easy early this morning before heading into work at 6am.  Legs are feeling a lot better this morning, but still ran really easy (7:55 pace) to let the legs come back.  I was playing with the kids last night and my son kneeled on the side of my leg and I screamed in pain, so they are not fully back yet.

May try for a short run at lunch today to continue the recovery.

(Trigon 2 - 39 miles)

Got in a good 4M run at lunch today.  Decided it was time to get a little speed back into the legs, so I went a bit faster today.  I had a rabbit to catch on the road today and track him down...passed him going out at 1.80M and then caught him on the way back at 3.25M.  Splits were good: 1-6:32, 2-6:38, 3-6:13, 4-6:04.  Legs felt good and actually better after the run.

total time: 25:25  (Trigon 1 - 347 miles)

Very tired today, had to take a quick nap once I got home from work.  After dinner we biked over to Community Park and I played with the kids while Kami ran a couple of miles.  Biked home right before dark, 4M round trip count it as 1 easy mile.

Hey, I had a massage yesterday and there was a knot the size of a golf ball in my legs. I know how you feel, at least you can smack your kids. jk I wouldnt do that! I wanted to smack the therapist though!

Nice recovery run Jeff. My legs are not back yet either. I think the downhill and uphill worked on us pretty good.

Walter, Jon, you and I and however else should see if we can try and get a team for the Sawtooth relay next year. That would be fun. You have to have 6 runners for that event.

From jtshad on Wed, Jun 25, 2008 at 14:48:18

That would be great for Sawtooth next year. We could either get 3 more guys or get a mixed team with Deborah and a couple of other fast ladies.

From Jon on Wed, Jun 25, 2008 at 15:16:28

Looks like a fun race, esp for runners 1 and 6.

From jtshad on Wed, Jun 25, 2008 at 15:26:14

So, Jon are you in for next year?

From Jon on Wed, Jun 25, 2008 at 15:32:36

In... terested. How serious are you guys about putting together a team? It is a long ways ahead to be planning for this race. Right now, I would say to put me as in.

From Jon on Wed, Jun 25, 2008 at 15:37:05

I'll say I'm more interested in this than WBR. I've done WBR 4 times now and there are only a few legs I haven't run- the excitement is definitely reduced for me. Plus I'm all for the non-overnight part.

From wheakory on Wed, Jun 25, 2008 at 16:41:46

Jon, I think Sawtooth would be fun. I have a 15 passenger van so we would already have the vehicle. I bet I could convince my wife to drive.

One year we were going to have a church team, but people backed out (I was one of them because of conflicts). My sister-law has done this relay and she said that it's fun. I think this event is easier to plan.
